Good Vibrations (Party Animals Album)
''Good Vibrations'' is the debut album of the Party Animals and was released in 1996. The Party Animals made their introduction on the video for the single "I Wanna Be A Hippy" by Technohead. The clip featured three gabbers and a hippie. The producers Flamman & Abraxas discovered the four. Stichting Nederlandse Top 40, ''500 Nr. 1 Hits uit de Top 40'', page 325, 9023009444 (Book in Dutch) Flamman & Abraxas remixed the single and because one of the original producers, Lee Newman, died shortly after "I Wanna Be A Hippy" became a hit, they decided to continue with the singers as a new group. Flamman & Abraxas saw a potential for opening the mainly underground scene of gabber with this group by making the sound more pop oriented and thus introducing the new genre to a mainstream audience. The album mainly consists of cover versions of existing songs set in a fast gabber beat. Party Animals (musical Group)
Party Animals are a pop-gabber group from Amsterdam, Netherlands. The band was created by producers Jeff "Abraxas" Porter and Jeroen Flamman, also known as Flamman & Abraxas, along with vocalists MCs Remsy, Evert van Buschbach, Patrick de Moor, Dennis Adam, and Paul Grommé. They became the first act in the Netherlands to have their first three singles go straight to number one. Hava Nagila ( he, הָבָה נָגִילָה, ''Hāvā Nāgīlā'', "Let us rejoice") is a Jewish folk song. It is traditionally sung at celebrations, such as weddings. Have You Ever Been Mellow
"Have You Ever Been Mellow" is the first single of the Party Animals and was released on their debut album ''Good Vibrations''. The track was released in 1996 and became their first number one hit in The Netherlands. The song contains a sample of " Have You Never Been Mellow" by Olivia Newton-John. The chorus was also reused except that "never" was replaced by "ever". Musically the song is totally different with a fast gabber beat. The song made the 1996 yearlist at a #21 position. The single was certified Gold. The song remains an often requested song in the Netherlands and reached the 35 position at 3FM's 90s Request Top 100 of 2006. It was a minor hit in the United Kingdom but, like other songs in its genre, sold better in Scotland. Flying Dutchman (opera)
The ''Flying Dutchman'' ( nl, De Vliegende Hollander) is a legendary ghost ship, allegedly never able to make port, but doomed to sail the seven seas forever. The myths and ghost stories were likely to have originated from the 17th-century Golden Age of the Dutch East India Company (VOC) and of Dutch maritime power. The oldest known extant version of the legend dates from the late 18th century. Heavy metal (or simply metal) is a genre of rock music that developed in the late 1960s and early 1970s, largely in the United Kingdom and United States. Gabber
Gabber (; ) is a style of electronic dance music and a subgenre of hardcore techno, as well as the surrounding subculture. The music is more commonly referred to as Hardcore, which is characterised by fast beats, distorted & heavier kickdrums, with darker themes and samples, and was developed in Rotterdam and Amsterdam in the 1990s by producers like Marc Acardipane, Paul Elstak, DJ Rob, and The Prophet, forming record labels such as Rotterdam Records, Mokum Records, Pengo Records and Industrial Strength Records. The word "gabber" comes from Amsterdam Bargoens slang and means "friend". Gabber remains highly popular in the Netherlands, and has seen a major resurgence recent years. The Dutch Top 40 ( nl, Nederlandse Top 40) is a weekly music chart compiled by ''Stichting Nederlandse Top 40''. It started as a radio program titled "Veronica Top 40", on the offshore station Radio Veronica in 1965. It remained "The Veronica Top 40" until 1974, when the station was forced to stop broadcasting. Joost den Draaijer initiated the Top 40 in the Netherlands. The show currently airs on Fridays from 2 to 6 PM on Qmusic. Hippie
A hippie, also spelled hippy, especially in British English, is someone associated with the counterculture of the 1960s, originally a youth movement that began in the United States during the mid-1960s and spread to different countries around the world.
