The peanut (''Arachis hypogaea''), also known as the groundnut, goober (US), pindar (US) or monkey nut (UK), is a legume crop grown mainly for its edible Seed, seeds. Goober (brand)
Goober is a combination of peanut butter and jelly in a single jar. It is sold in US, the UK, Canada, Singapore, and other parts of the Commonwealth, and is named after a familiar denomination for peanut in American English, goober pea, from the Gullah name for the peanut, ''guber''. Goober was introduced by The J.M. Smucker Company under the Smucker's brand. About Goober was introduced in 1968. It consists of alternating vertical stripes of peanut butter and either grape or strawberry flavored jelly, or chocolate. There is also a Goober variant that consists of alternating vertical stripes of Honey and chocolate. They have a reputation in many countries of being an item most familiar from the concession counter. In some countries, they are sold under the brand Goobers, which is the earliest and one of the most popular brands of the product, made by Nestlé. Goober Pyle
Goober Pyle is a fictional character in the American TV sitcom ''The Andy Griffith Show'' and its sequel series ''Mayberry RFD''. He was played by George Lindsey. Lindsey first read for the part of Gomer Pyle, Goober's cousin, which went to actor-singer Jim Nabors. The two actors had similar backgrounds; Lindsey was from Jasper, Alabama, while Nabors was from Sylacauga, Alabama. The character was introduced by Andy Taylor (played by Andy Griffith) as Goober Beasley,season 5 episode 23 TV or Not TV but he was referred to as Goober Pyle for most of his time on the show. ''Goober and the Ghost Chasers'' is an animated television series produced by Hanna-Barbera Productions, broadcast on ABC from September 8, 1973, to August 30, 1975. A total of 16 half-hour episodes of ''Goober and the Ghost Chasers'' were produced. The show's episodes were later serialized as part of the syndicated weekday series ''Fred Flintstone and Friends'' in 1977–78. ''GooBall'' is a 2005 an arcade-style puzzle video game developed by Over The Edge Entertainment (now Unity Technologies) for Mac OS X and published by Ambrosia Software. It is Over The Edge's first game, and runs on an early beta version of the Unity engine, which it was meant to showcase. Though it was highly downloaded, the game was commercially unsuccessful, leading Over The Edge to change its focus from making games, to making the Unity engine. Gameplay The player assumes the role of an alien stranded on Earth. "Goober", as the alien becomes known to the CIA, is stuck inside a life support device made of protoplasm. The gameplay is similar to the ''Super Monkey Ball'' series in that the player tilts the environment, which causes Goober to roll around in it, collecting gems and making its way to the end gate within the imparted time.
