Gonzalo Alberto Verón (born 24 December 1989) is an Argentine footballer for Universidad San Martín in the Peruvian Primera División. Club career Early career Born in Moreno, Buenos Aires, Verón came through the youth set-up at Arsenal de Sarandí before moving to Sportivo Italiano. Sportivo Italiano Verón made his professional debut with Sportivo Italiano, at that time playing in Primera B Metropolitana, on 24 May 2009 in a 1–1 draw against Tristán Suárez. In his four seasons at the club, which included a promotion to Primera B Nacional, he appeared in 66 official matches scoring seven goals. The 2013–14 Primera División season was the 123rd season of top-flight professional football in Argentina. It started on August 2, 2013 and ended on May 24, 2014. Twenty teams competed in the league, seventeen returning from the 2012–13 season and three promoted from the Primera B Nacional Championship (Championship winners Rosario Central, runners-up Gimnasia y Esgrima (LP) and 3rd place Olimpo).
