''Gone Girl'' is the 58th album by American country singer Johnny Cash, released on Columbia Records in 1978. It features The Rolling Stones' '' Beggars Banquet'' song "No Expectations", the original "It Comes and Goes" and Rodney Crowell's "A Song for the Life", as well as a version of Kenny Rogers' famous single " The Gambler", released just a month before ''Gone Girl''. Three singles from the album, " Gone Girl", " I Will Rock and Roll with You" and " It'll Be Her", were released, but did not reach the country chart's top 20. Johnny Cash
John R. Cash (born J. R. Cash; February 26, 1932 – September 12, 2003) was an American country singer-songwriter. Much of Cash's music contained themes of sorrow, moral tribulation, and redemption, especially in the later stages of his career. He was known for his deep, calm bass-baritone voice, the distinctive sound of his Tennessee Three backing band characterized by train-like chugging guitar rhythms, a rebelliousness coupled with an increasingly somber and humble demeanor, free prison concerts, and a trademark all-black stage wardrobe which earned him the nickname "The Man in Black". Born to poor cotton farmers in Kingsland, Arkansas, Cash rose to fame during the mid-1950s in the burgeoning rockabilly scene in Memphis, Tennessee, after four years in the Air Force. "Gone Girl" is a song written by Jack Clement and originally recorded by Johnny Cash, giving its title to Cash's album '' Gone Girl'' that appeared in December 1978. Cash recorded this song with producer Larry Butler on May 4, 1978, later returning to work on it on August 1. Marshall Grant
Marshall Garnett Grant (May 5, 1928 – August 7, 2011) was the upright bassist and electric bassist of singer Johnny Cash's original backing duo, the Tennessee Two, in which Grant and electric guitarist Luther Perkins played. The group became known as The Tennessee Three in 1960, with the addition of drummer W. S. Holland. Grant also served as road manager for Cash and his touring show company. "Song for the Life" is a song written by American singer Rodney Crowell and originally recorded by The Seldom Scene. Crowell recorded the song in 1978 on his debut album '' Ain't Living Long Like This'', and since then, the song has been covered by several other artists. One version, recorded by Alan Jackson, was released as a single in 1995, and was a Top Ten country hit for him that year. However, it has yet to be featured on any of his compilation albums. Donald Alan Schlitz Jr. (born August 29, 1952) is an American country music songwriter. For his songwriting efforts, Schlitz has earned two Grammy Awards, as well as four ASCAP Country Songwriter of the Year awards. In 1993, he was inducted into the Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame. Roger Dale Bowling (December 3, 1944 – December 26, 1982) was an American songwriter who specialized in country music. Biography Bowling was born in Helton, Leslie County, Kentucky.
