Gombari Sector
Gombari is a populated place in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. Location Gombari is in the south of the Haut-Uélé province. It is on the left (south) bank of the Bomokandi River where the river is crossed by the RN26 highway. History The Belgian colonists created a post at Gombari. During a period of widespread rebellion in the Uele District in 1886, Ernest Baert decided to abandon all the posts upstream from Djabir and Ibembo Ibembo is a village on the Itimbiri River in the Tshopo Tshopo is one of the 21 new provinces of the Democratic Republic of the Congo created in the 2015 repartitioning. Haut-Uélé
Haut-Uélé (French for "Upper Uélé") is one of the 21 new provinces of the Democratic Republic of the Congo created in the 2015 repartitioning. Haut-Uélé, Bas-Uélé, Ituri, and Tshopo provinces are the result of the dismemberment of the former Orientale province. Haut-Uélé was formed from the Haut-Uélé district whose town of Isiro was elevated to capital city of the new province. The Bomokandi River is a river in the Congo Basin in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. Uele District
Uele District (french: District de l'Uele, nl, District Uele) was a district of the Congo Free State and the Belgian Congo. It roughly corresponded to the current provinces of Bas-Uélé and Haut-Uélé. Landscape The Uele District, shown as the Uellé District on an 1897 map of the Congo Free State, was named after the Uele River. The river flows though the district and further west joins the Mbomou River (or Bomu River) to form the Ubangi River, which defined the northeastern border of the Belgian Congo. The French colonies were to the north of the district and the British-controlled Lado Enclave to the east, on the west bank of the Nile. To the west were the Ubangi and Bangala districts, and to the south were the Aruwimi and Stanley Falls districts. Ernest Baert
Ernest Baert (12 August 1860 – 15 August 1894) was a Belgian soldier, explorer and colonial administrator who was active in the Congo Free State. Early years (1860–1885) Ernest Baert was born in Brussels on 12 August 1860. His parents were Polydore Baert and Emilie-Bernardine Duvieusart. He entered the Ecole Militaire on 4 December 1876. He was appointed second lieutenant on 22 December 1878 and assigned on 19 April 1881 to the 5th artillery regiment. He was seconded to the Military Cartographic Institute, and entered service with the International Association of the Congo on 16 June 1885. First Congo term (1885–1888) Baert embarked on 29 June 1885 at Antwerp on the ''Baltimore'' and arrived at Banana on 28 July 1885 He reached Vivi on 2 August 1885. Djabir
Bondo (formerly Djabir) is a town in north-central Democratic Republic of the Congo, in Bas-Uele Province, about 200 km north-west of Buta. Bondo lies mainly on the north bank of the Uele River. As of 2009 it had an estimated population of 19,601. Transport A branch line of the now-defunct Vicicongo narrow gauge railway built by the ''Société des Chemins de Fer Vicinaux du Congo'' terminates on the south bank. The railway branch line from Komba via Likati and Libogo was made by the Belgian state in 1927–1928. The town has a 1300m airstrip, but is relatively inaccessible by other means as it is served only by earth tracks impassable after heavy rain. River crossings on Uele is made by canoes. Ibembo is a village on the Itimbiri River in the Tshopo Tshopo is one of the 21 new provinces of the Democratic Republic of the Congo created in the 2015 repartitioning. Dungu, Democratic Republic Of The Congo
Dungu ( ) is a town in Haut-Uele Province located at the confluence of the Dungu and Kibali Rivers where they join to form the Uele River, south of the Garamba National Park. Dungu's terrain is wooded savannah, and its climate is tropical. It is the principal town in Dungu Territory. It has a hospital, nursing school, high school, Internet cafe, and a cathedral—as it is the seat of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Ndoromo–Dungu. Ituri River
The Ituri River is a river of the Democratic Republic of the Congo. It is the main tributary of the Aruwimi River, which forms where the Ituri meets the Nepoko River. It gives its name to Ituri Province. Course The Ituri has its headwaters in province of Haut-Uélé in the mountains to the west of Lake Albert, about north of Kaladau. It flows generally south into Ituri province, and flows past Mongbwalu to the east. It is joined from the left by Shari River to the northeast of Irumu about south-southwest of Bunia. Bahr-el-Djebel
Central Equatoria is a state in South Sudan. With an area of , it is the smallest of the original South Sudanese states. Its previous name was Bahr al-Jabal (also Bahr-el-Jebel), named after a tributary of the White Nile that flows through the state. It was renamed Central Equatoria in the first Interim Legislative Assembly on 1 April 2005 under the government of Southern Sudan.
