Gombak (town)
Gombak is a town (Malay: pekan, bandar kecil Gombak) and locality in the mukim of Setapak in the coterminous Gombak District, Selangor, Malaysia. History Gombak was first established in the 1800s by the Minangkabau immigrants with the consent of the Sultan of Selangor. Geography The town is situated alongside Jalan Gombak, in the northeastern fringes of Kuala Lumpur, just across the border from Wangsa Maju. Other adjacent towns include Ulu Klang, Ampang and Batu Caves. Gombak town is located in Selangor but a small fraction of the town spills into the Federal Territory of Kuala Lumpur. Setapak
Setapak is a mukim in Gombak District, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Formerly a tin-mining and rubber estate area, in Malay ''tapak'' means 'step' so ''Setapak'' means 'one step', probably referring to the close proximity of the suburb to Kuala Lumpur. Another explanation of the origin of its name traces to its historical roots. History The earliest inhabitants of Setapak were the aborigines (''orang asli''), and the Minangkabaus. Ampang Jaya
Ampang Jaya, more commonly known as just Ampang, is a town, a mukim and a parliamentary constituency straddling parts of the Hulu Langat District and Gombak District, in eastern Selangor, Malaysia. It is located just outside the eastern border of Kuala Lumpur Federal Territory. It is administered by the Ampang Jaya Municipal Council (MPAJ), which is the formal name of the township as well. Kuala Lumpur Middle Ring Road 2
Kuala Lumpur Middle Ring Road 2 (MRR2 or Kuala Lumpur Middle Ring Road 2 Scheme), Federal Route 28, is a ring road built by the Malaysian Public Works Department (JKR) to connect neighborhoods near the boundary of Federal Territory of Kuala Lumpur and Selangor. Altogether, the of the entire system consists of Federal Route 28, Damansara–Puchong Expressway (from Sri Damansara Interchange to Sunway Interchange) and Shah Alam Expressway (from Sunway Interchange to Sri Petaling Interchange). Gombak LRT Station
Gombak (previously known as the Terminal PUTRA LRT station) is an LRT station in Gombak District, Selangor, Malaysia. It is the northern terminus for the RapidKL Kelana Jaya Line. There is a ticket counter for buses to Genting Highlands, with buses departing to the Genting Skyway station every half-hour. These buses belong to and are operated by Resorts World Berhad and therefore bear their logo on it. This station is normally utilised by residents of Kuala Lumpur, especially those living around Setapak area when they are going to Genting. Batu Caves
Batu Caves ( ta, பத்து மலை : Pathumalai) is a mogote (a type of karst landform) that has a series of caves and cave temples in Gombak, Selangor, Malaysia. It takes its name from the Malay word ''batu'', meaning 'rock'. The hill was originally known as ''Kapal Tanggang'' from the legend of Si Tanggang. The town nearby is named after the Batu Caves limestone formation. The cave is one of the most popular Hindu shrines outside India, and is dedicated to Lord Murugan. Gombak District
The Gombak District is an administrative district located in the state of Selangor, Malaysia. The district was created on February 1, 1974, the same day when Kuala Lumpur was declared a Federal Territory. Until 1997, Rawang was the district capital; the capital has been moved to Bandar Baru Selayang. Gombak borders Kuala Lumpur to the southeast and the Genting Highlands to the east. Both Gombak and Kuala Lumpur, along with some other districts in Selangor, are situated within the Klang Valley. Wangsa Maju is a township and a constituency in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. This area is surrounded by Setapak, Taman Melati and Gombak district in Selangor.
