Summit Air, formerly known as Goma Air, is an airline based in Kathmandu, Nepal. The airline operates from short takeoff and landing airstrips in the Western parts of Nepal. The airline received the first of two Let 410 aircraft, financed by the Czech Republic Export Bank., in October 2014, and initially only used them on flights to Lukla and Jomsom. History The airline was founded as ''Goma Air'' in February 2011. It began to operate using Cessna Grand Caravan 208 B aircraft. In October 2014, the airline acquired one Let 410 UVP-E20 aircraft, which was the first aircraft of this type to be operated in Nepal. The airline is the only one to use Nepalgunj Airport as the main hub of operation and focuses on operating out of that base. On 13 March 2017, the airline officially changed its name to ''Summit Air''. In 2014, Summit Air signed a deal with Fishtail Air with the aim of enhancing Nepal's tourism. Pokhara Airport
Pokhara Airport is a domestic airport serving Pokhara in Nepal. Following a new agreement on air travel between India and Nepal, Pokhara Airport will be replaced by Nepal's third international airport, Pokhara International Airport in 2023. History The airport was established on 4 July 1958 by the Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal. Until the 2010s, it offered regular connections to Kathmandu and Jomsom; and seasonal connections to Manang. In 2011 Buddha Air, a Nepali private airline, began international flights from Pokhara to Chaudhary Charan Singh International Airport in Lucknow, India, and announced plans to fly to New Delhi's Indira Gandhi International Airport in the future. However these international flights were discontinued soon after. In the late 2010s, Pokhara Airpot became Nepal's second domestic hub handling flights to various provinces. Simikot
Simikot is the administrative headquarters of Humla District of Karnali Zone in the mountain region of northwestern Nepal. Significance Lying at an altitude of just over 2,900m on a gentle slope high above the Humla Karnali River, Simikot lies on an ancient trade-cum-pilgrimage route to Mount Kailash. Mount Kailash is located in the Purang County of the Tibetan Autonomous Region, China, which borders Humla district of Nepal to the north. In the April 2015 Nepal earthquake, the popular Tatopani-Zhangmu route for the pilgrimage to Mount Kailash was badly damaged. In the aftermath of this earthquake the traffic for the annual pilgrimage to Mount Kailash shifted to Humla. Pilgrims would fly from Kathmandu to Nepalgunj, and then from Nepalgunj to Simikot. Sanphebagar Airport is a domestic airport located in Sanphebagar serving Achham District, a district in Sudurpashchim Province in Nepal. History In 1967, the Airport was first constructed only having a Grass/Clay runway. It came into operation in 1975. In February 2002, the terminal building and the airport's Control tower was destroyed in a Maoist attack. It was restored and upgraded and reopened for operations in 2018. Sanfebagar is a municipality in Achham District in Sudurpashchim Province of Nepal that was established on 18 May 2014 by merging the two former Village development committees Baijinath, Jalapadevi, Siddheswar, Mastamandau, Nawathana, Bhagyeshwar, Ridikot, Chandika. It lies on the bank of Budhi Ganga River. At the time of the 2011 Nepal census it had a population of 33,788 people living in 6,693 individual households. Rara National Park
Rara National Park is a protected area in the Himalayas of Nepal and was established in 1976. Covering an area of in the Mugu and Jumla districts, it is the country's smallest national park. Its main feature is Rara Lake at an altitude of . The park was established to protect the unique flora and fauna of the Humla– Jumla Region of Nepal. Phaplu Airport is a domestic airport located in Phaplu, Solududhkunda serving Solukhumbu District, a district in Province No. 1 in Nepal. History The airport was opened in October 1976 and later broadened by Sir Edmund Hillary to accommodate DHC-6 Twin Otter aircraft. The Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal shut down the airport in 2013 in order to pave the runway. The airport reopened one year later with a full blacktopped runway. Ramechhap Airport is a domestic airport serving the municipality of Manthali, the district headquarters of Ramechhap District located in the Tamakoshi River valley in Bagmati Province in Nepal. As of October 2022, most flights to Lukla Airport are operated from Ramechhap Airport. Manthali is a municipality and the headquarters of Ramechhap District in Bagmati Province, Nepal that was established on 2 December 2014 by merging the former village development committees Old-Manthali, Bhatauli, Chisapani, Kathjor, Bhaluwajor, Salupati and Sunarpani. It was declared the headquarters of the district on 9 March 1989 (26 Falgun 2045 BS). It lies on the bank of the Tamakoshi River. At the time of the 2011 Nepal census it had a population of 45,416 people living in 10,099 individual households.
