''Golf Central'' is Golf Channel's news program. It was launched in 1995, in the same year as the network it airs on. A nightly half-hour show, ''Golf Central'' features news and highlights from the major golf tours and events of the world, in addition to on-site reports from tournaments. Format The show's format involving anchors varies — sometimes there is just one anchor on the desk for a show; sometimes an anchor is joined by an analyst for tournament recaps; or two anchors will be used. With the recent additions of new talent for the show, the latter format has been utilized more recently. There is never one mainstay anchor team, as anchor teams vary from night to night. While tournaments are in progress, editions of Golf Central air every half hour to provide updates on the current event, including highlights and leaderboards. Brandel Chamblee
} Brandel Eugene Chamblee (born July 2, 1962) is a former American professional golfer, commentator and writer. Chamblee was born in St. Louis, Missouri. He graduated from the University of Texas with a degree in Speech Communication and was a first-team All-American in his junior year and twice a second-team All-American. He has a home in Phoenix, Arizona and has four children with his ex-wife Karen: sons Brandel Jr., Brennen, Braeden, and a daughter, Bergen. A memorial playground was set up at the Phoenix Children's Hospital for a son, Braeden, who died as an infant. He is now married to Bailey (Mosier) Chamblee, who is also a television personality. Chamblee was inducted into the Irving Independent School District Hall of Fame Class of 2014. Chamblee turned professional in 1985 and has one PGA Tour victory. Golf Channel Original Programming
Golf is a club-and-ball sport in which players use various clubs to hit balls into a series of holes on a course in as few strokes as possible. Golf, unlike most ball games, cannot and does not use a standardized playing area, and coping with the varied terrains encountered on different courses is a key part of the game. Courses typically have either 18 or 9 ''holes'', regions of terrain that each contain a ''cup'', the hole that receives the ball. Mark Rolfing
Mark Rolfing is a television golf commentator and a resort marketing director. Rolfing played professional golf in 1973 and 1974, after playing college golf at DePauw University in Indiana. At DePauw, he joined Delta Kappa Epsilon fraternity. However, he never qualified for the PGA Tour and in 1975 joined Kapalua Resort in Hawaii as head golf professional. He later moved into Kapalua's marketing department and formed his own television marketing firm, Rolfing Productions, in 1985. He joined the NBC Sports golf team as an on-course reporter in 1988. Montford Johnson Wagner (born March 23, 1980) is an American professional golfer who plays on the PGA Tour. Early years and amateur career Wagner was born in Amarillo, Texas and grew up in upstate New York, where his father taught computer sciences at the United States Military Academy at West Point. He caddied for three summers at Hudson National in Westchester County, New York. Wagner attended Virginia Tech, where he was a member of the golf team. William August Kratzert III (born June 29, 1952) is an American professional golfer and sportscaster, who has played on both the PGA Tour and the Champions Tour. Early life Kratzert was born in Quantico, Virginia when his father was in the service but spent most of his youth in Fort Wayne, Indiana, where he attended Elmhurst High School. His father was head pro for over 20 years at the Fort Wayne Country Club. Kratzert won the Indiana State Amateur at age 16. Amateur career Kratzert attended the University of Georgia in Athens, Georgia. He was a distinguished member of the golf team and an All-American in 1973 and 1974. John Henry "Tripp" Isenhour III (born April 6, 1968) is an American professional golfer. Isenhour was born in Salisbury, North Carolina. He played college golf at Georgia Tech and turned professional in 1990. Isenhour played on the Nationwide Tour in 1996, 1998, 1999, 2000, 2003, 2005, 2006 and 2008. He was a member of the PGA Tour in 2001, 2002, 2004, 2005 and 2007. He has not played on either tour since 2008. James Thomas Gallagher Jr. (born March 24, 1961) is an American professional golfer and sportscaster. Early life Gallagher was born in Johnstown, Pennsylvania. His father, a career club pro, started him in golf at age six. His sister, Jackie, and brother, Jeff, both became touring professionals. He attended the University of Tennessee in Knoxville. Professional career Gallagher turned pro in 1983 and joined the PGA Tour in 1984. He won five events on the PGA Tour. His first win came in 1990 at the Greater Milwaukee Open.
