Goldwater’s
Goldwater's Department Store was a department store chain based in Phoenix, Arizona. History Michael Goldwater, the grandfather of U.S. Senator and 1964 presidential candidate Barry Goldwater, established a trading post in 1860 in Gila City, Arizona Territory. In 1872, he moved to Phoenix. Associated Dry Goods Corp. acquired Goldwater's in 1963 and expanded it to nine stores in the following decades, establishing stores in Tucson, Albuquerque and Las Vegas markets. In 1986, May Department Stores acquired Associated and in 1989 it dissolved the Goldwater's division. Seven of its stores were rebranded as parts of the J. W. Robinson's, May Company California and May D&F divisions. At this time, May sold the Tucson stores to Dillard's because of overlap with its recently acquired Foley's unit. El Con Center is an open-air shopping mall in the city of Tucson, Arizona, United States anchored by Cinemark Theatres, Target, The Home Depot, Walmart, Ross (30,220 ft.2), Burlington (65,680 ft.2), and Marshalls. Foothills Mall is an indoor regional shopping mall located in Casas Adobes, Arizona, United States, with a Tucson postal address. Foothills Mall is a dead mall with capacity for over 90 stores and outlets for consumers and/or tourists, along with 8 restaurants and the AMC Theatres Foothills 15. History Opened in 1982 as a small upscale mall, Foothills Mall originally including Goldwater's (102, 939 ft.2) and Levy's (103, 429 ft.2) as its anchors, as well as the Plitt Foothills 4 Cinemas. Fashion Show Mall
Fashion Show is a shopping mall located on the Las Vegas Strip in Paradise, Nevada. It was developed by Summa Corporation and Ernest W. Hahn, the latter also serving as general contractor. Construction began on March 15, 1979, and the project was built at a cost of $74 million. Fashion Show Mall opened on February 14, 1981, becoming the first major shopping center on the Strip. It was also the third mall to open in the Las Vegas Valley. Its success prompted the construction of other retail centers on the Strip, including the Forum Shops. The Rouse Company took over ownership in the 1990s and later launched a $1 billion renovation and expansion, which concluded in 2003. Fiesta Mall is a former shopping mall in Mesa, Arizona, United States. Opened in 1979 after nine years of development, it was built by Homart Development Company, the former shopping mall development division of the department store Sears. Sears was the first anchor store to open in the mall, doing so in 1977. Also present as anchor stores were The Broadway and Goldwater's, with Diamond's following in 1980. Metrocenter was a regional enclosed shopping mall in northwest Phoenix, Arizona. It was bounded by Interstate 17, 31st, Dunlap and Peoria Avenues. Before its closure, the three most recently open anchor stores were Harkins Theatres, Walmart Supercenter, and Dillard's Clearance Center; three additional vacant anchor stores included former Sears, JCPenney, and Macy's locations. Park Central Mall
Park Central Mall was the first shopping mall in Phoenix, Arizona. It is located in Encanto Village, on Central Avenue and Osborn Road. Today it exists as a mixed-use, business park primarily occupied by regional administrative offices for non-profit hospital operator Dignity Health (formerly known as Catholic Healthcare West), and regional offices for UnitedHealth Group. The property currently is known simply as Park Central. History Park Central Shopping City, as it originally was known, was first envisioned by Ralph Burgbacher and his older brother, A.J. Burgbacher. The two men purchased the Central Avenue Dairy in the 1950s.
