Alfred Goldscheider
Johannes Karl Eugen Alfred Goldscheider (4 August 1858 – 10 April 1935) was a German neurologist born into a Jewish family in Sommerfeld (today Lubsko, Poland). He studied medicine at Friedrich-Wilhelm Medical-Surgical Institute in Berlin (promotion 1881), and subsequently spent the next seven years as a military physician. During this period of time, he also served as an assistant to physiologist Emil du Bois-Reymond (1818-1896). He later became a professor at the University of Berlin. In Berlin, he served as directing physician at the ''Krankenhaus Moabit'' (from 1894) and at the ''Virchow-Krankenhaus'' (from 1906). In 1910 he succeeded Hermann Senator at the polyclinic. Research Goldscheider is best known for his work with the somatosensory system, in particular, research of the body's thermoreceptors in regards to localized "coolness" and "warmness" spots. Goldscheider Porcelain Manufactory and Majolica Factory (german: Goldscheider'sche Porzellan-Manufactur und Majolica-Fabrik; later: ''Goldscheider Keramik'') was an Austrian ceramic manufactory. History In 1885, Friedrich Goldscheider came from the Bohemian city of Plzeň to Vienna and founded the Goldscheider Porcelain Manufactory and Majolica Factory. It became one of the most influential ceramic manufactories of terracotta, faience and bronze objects in Austria, with subsidiaries in Paris, Leipzig and Florence. For over half a century, Goldscheider created masterpieces of historical revivalism, Art Nouveau (''Jugendstil'') and Art Deco. Ludwig Goldscheider
Ludwig Goldscheider (3 June 1896 – 26 June 1973) was an Austrian-British publisher, art historian, poet and translator who is known for founding the world-renowned Phaidon Press. Biography Goldscheider was born in Vienna, then capital of the Austro-Hungarian Empire, to Wilhelm Goldscheider, a clockmaker from Galicia, and his first wife Julie (Itte) Goldscheider, née Lifschitz. After serving as an officer in the First World War, Goldscheider studied art history at the University of Vienna under Julius von Schlosser, and began working in various publishing houses. His first book, ''Die Wiese'' ("The Meadow"), an anthology of lyric poetry, appeared in 1921. Goldscheider co-founded Phaidon Press in 1923 under the German name ''Phaidon Verlag'', with Béla Horovitz and Frederick "Fritz" Ungar. Alexander Goldscheider (born June 22, 1950) is a Czech-born British composer, music producer, writer and computer specialist. Life and career He read music at Charles University in Prague, and received a PhD for his analysis of the music of ''The Beatles'' in 1975. Initially a music writer, critic, and radio/club DJ (1968–73), he moved into songwriting and music production, becoming a staff producer at Supraphon (1976–79), where he produced a number of pop, rock, and jazz LPs of Czech singers and bands. He pioneered the use of synthesizers in Czechoslovakia and his music was released by Panton Records and Supraphon, used on TV and in films. He moved to London in 1981, recorded two solo albums (''Themes for a One-Man-Band Vol. 1 & 2''), and in 1983 worked at the BBC Radiophonic Workshop producing his own music for radio, TV, and films.
