''Goldregen'' (Gold Rain) is the third album released in 1998 by German band La! Neu?. Like the previous year's ''Zeeland'', ''Goldregen'' takes the form of a series of spontaneous jams, quickly recorded and mastered. Unlike ''Zeeland'', ''Goldregen'' is entirely acoustic, containing only piano, violin, harmonium, drums and vocals. Unlike most other albums released by Klaus Dinger it is quiet and meditative rather than aggressive or abrasive; its low key and low-fi values arguable align it with ambient music. Background and recording The album title is a play on words. The cover painting depicts a laburnum plant, which in German is called ''goldregen''. Klaus Dinger's grand piano was made by a company called "Goldregen". Recording began on 2 May 1998 at Klaus Dinger's studio in Düsseldorf, starting with the album's opener "Zeeland Wunderbar"; the only track to have been written before sessions began. Year Of The Tiger (La! Neu? Album)
''Year of the Tiger'' is the sixth album released by German band La! Neu?. Like its sister-album ''Goldregen'' it was recorded and released relatively quickly in 1997-8. Unlike ''Goldregen'' – which featured only acoustic instruments – ''Year of the Tiger'' is predominantly electronic and beat-driven. The entire album is performed live on the CD ''Live at Kunsthalle Düsseldorf''. Background and recording The album is named for a phrase used in a postcard sent by an American fan named George to Klaus Dinger in 1998, referring to the zodiac calendar, according to which the Year of the Tiger began on 28 January 1998. The back of the postcard features on the cover artwork. Recording began in October 1997, after La! Neu?'s pianist Rembrandt Lensink (whose album '' Rembrandt: God Strikes Back'' was released in January 1998) presented Dinger with a lengthy synthesizer piece which could not fit on his own album. Klaus Dinger
Klaus Dinger (24 March 1946 – 21 March 2008) was a German musician and songwriter most famous for his contributions to the seminal krautrock band Neu!. He was also the guitarist and chief songwriter of new wave group La Düsseldorf and briefly the percussionist of Kraftwerk. 1946–1971: The No, The Smash, and Kraftwerk Klaus Dinger was born in Scherfede, Westphalia, Germany, to Heinz and Renate Dinger on 24 March, 1946. He was their first child. Before he was a year old, his parents moved from the town, which had been badly damaged by an Allied siege at the end of World War II, to Düsseldorf. La! Neu?
La! Neu? (stylized as ''la!'' NÊU?) were a German band founded by Klaus Dinger. After around 1985, Dinger had difficulty getting records released and distributed in Germany, but the Japanese record label Captain Trip Records signed him in 1994, setting up the Dingerland sub-label for Dinger's projects. La! Neu? is a loose collective of Dinger and (mostly) younger musicians, plus his mother Renate. Their records are recorded quite quickly and spontaneously, and the sleeve designs are usually by Dinger, with hastily handwritten liner notes and obvious glue drops. La! ''Cha Cha 2000 - Live in Tokyo 1996 Vol. 1'' is a 1998 live album by the German group La! Neu?, recorded at a 1996 concert in Tokyo during the band's Japanese tour. The album consists of the second half of the 3½ hour concert, during which time the band played an extended 1¾ hour version of La Düsseldorf's 1978 song '' Cha Cha 2000'' (which was written by La! ''Blue'' is a 1999 studio album released under the La! Neu? name on Captain Trip Records. In most senses it is a Klaus Dinger solo album, as Dinger composed, produced, recorded and (mostly) performed the entire album alone. It was originally intended for release as the fifth La Düsseldorf album in 1987, but Dinger's contract with Virgin Records was terminated before the album's release. The 1987 rejection letter from Udo Lange is printed upside-down on the back cover of the CD. Name The ambiguity of the album's name and artist on the cover has caused confusion amongst retailers as well as fans. Whilst "La! Neu?" is prominently displayed at the top-right corner of the artwork, the cover also features the legend "''La Düsseldorf 5''", referring to Dinger's band from the 1970s and '80s. ''Music for a New Society'' is the eighth solo studio album by Welsh musician John Cale, released in September 1982 by ZE Records and Island Records. With the suggestion from ZE Records owner Michael Zilkha, Cale performed the album mostly improvised live at Skyline Studios in New York City. John Cale
John Davies Cale (born 9 March 1942) is a Welsh musician, composer, singer, songwriter and record producer who was a founding member of the American rock band the Velvet Underground. Over his six-decade career, Cale has worked in various styles across rock, drone, classical, avant-garde and electronic music. He studied music at Goldsmiths College, University of London, before relocating in 1963 to New York City's downtown music scene, where he performed as part of the Theatre of Eternal Music and formed the Velvet Underground.
