''Golden Tee Golf'' is a golf arcade game series by Incredible Technologies. Its signature feature is the use of a trackball to determine the power, direction and curve of the player's golf shot. Play modes include casual 18-hole golf, closest to the pin, and online tournaments. One of the longest running arcade game series, ''Golden Tee'' has maintained a large following and spawned a competitive tournament scene. History The ''Golden Tee'' series began as a project at Incredible Technologies to create a large scale golf simulator for sizable family entertainment centers. The idea was scrapped, but not before programmer Larry Hodgson had already written software to create virtual golf courses. Capcom Bowling
''Capcom Bowling'' is a top down bowling sports simulation game developed by Incredible Technologies (under the brand name Strata) and released by Capcom to arcades in 1988. Up to 4 four players could play a single game playing alternately. The controls feature a trackball which is used to control both direction and power, and two buttons which control left and right spin or hook. Comedic animations play for making certain shots. The game was released in both an upright cabinet and a cocktail version. Most of the upright cabinets are conversion kits for existing cabinets although a limited number of dedicated cabinets were produced. These cabinets featured a birch plywood finish to mimic a bowling lane, a larger marbled trackball and painted side art. The Japanese version featured a different cabinet. A trackball is a pointing device consisting of a ball held by a socket containing sensors to detect a rotation of the ball about two axes—like an upside-down ball mouse with an exposed protruding ball. Users roll the ball to position the on-screen pointer, using their thumb, fingers, or the palm of the hand, while using the fingertips to press the buttons. With most trackballs, operators have to lift their finger, thumb or hand and reposition in on the ball to continue rolling, whereas a mouse would have to be lifted itself and re-positioned. Some trackballs have notably low friction, as well as being made of a dense material such as phenolic resin, so they can be spun to make them coast. ''PGA Tour Golf Team Challenge'' is a trackball-based golf arcade game series manufactured by Global VR of San Jose, California. Based on the PC version of EA Sports' ''PGA Tour'' game, the game is run from a computer within the cabinet which has an Intel Pentium 4 processor and Nvidia GeForce video card. The current - and final - edition of the PGA series is titled PGA Tour Golf ‘Team Challenge’. A player can select from a number of real PGA pro golfers & PGA tour courses in either 9 or 18 holes, against up to 3 other players or in team play of up to 4 players per team. It is based on the popularity of golfer Peter Jacobsen. Gameplay ''Peter Jacobsen's Golden Tee 3D Golf'' is a golf game featuring a trackball, and three 18-hole courses. The game allows for up to 4 players at a time, and in the case of 2 players of more, allows you to play Stroke Play or Skins mode. These games always have 3 different courses per revision (with the exception of the home versions, which have six), with hittable trees or objects, lakes and cliffs (that are out of bounds).
