Known as the Dodgers, their home ground is Illyarrie Reserve in Surrey Downs. The club is a merger of the previous, Golden Grove Baseball Club and the Central Districts Baseball Club. The name Dodgers was kept over the Bulldogs of which the Central Districts were known as. The current club coach is Clayton Carson along with fellow imports Garrett Vail (catcher) and Tim Flight (Left-handed Pitcher). Baseball is a bat-and-ball sport played between two teams of nine players each, taking turns batting and fielding. The game occurs over the course of several plays, with each play generally beginning when a player on the fielding team, called the pitcher, throws a ball that a player on the batting team, called the batter, tries to hit with a bat. The objective of the offensive team (batting team) is to hit the ball into the field of play, away from the other team's players, allowing its players to run the bases, having them advance counter-clockwise around four bases to score what are called " runs". The objective of the defensive team (referred to as the fielding team) is to prevent batters from becoming runners, and to prevent runners' advance around the bases. Surrey Downs, South Australia
Surrey Downs is a northeastern suburb of Adelaide, South Australia. It is located in the City of Tea Tree Gully local government area, and is adjacent to Wynn Vale, Golden Grove, Fairview Park and Redwood Park. History The area was originally used for agriculture and viticulture, but was redeveloped as outer suburban housing during the 1970s. Surrey Downs Post Office opened on 13 October 2000 replacing the Fairview Park office (open since 1965).
