A Golden Globe Award is an award presented to recognize excellence in film and television, presented by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association until 2023. The awards are now administered by Dick Clark Productions. Golden Globe Award
The Golden Globe Awards are accolades bestowed by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association beginning in January 1944, recognizing excellence in both American and international film and television. Beginning in 2022, there are 105 members of the HFPA. The annual ceremony at which the awards are presented is normally held every January and has been a major part of the film industry's awards season, which culminates each year in the Academy Awards, although the Golden Globes' relevance has been declining in recent years. The eligibility period for the Golden Globes corresponds to the calendar year (from January 1 through December 31). The Hollywood Foreign Press Association (HFPA) is a nonprofit organization of journalists and photographers who report on the Cinema of the United States, entertainment industry activity and interests in the United States for media (newspaper, magazine and book publication, television and radio broadcasting) predominantly outside the U.S. The HFPA consists of about 105 members from approximately 55 countries with a combined following of more than 250 million. Dick Clark Productions (DCP, stylized in lowercase as dick clark productions or dcp) is an American multinational television production company founded by radio and TV host Dick Clark. The studio primarily produces award shows and other music entertainment programs, including the Academy of Country Music Awards, the DCP-created American Music Awards, the Billboard Music Awards (presented by co-owned music magazine '' Billboard''), ''Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin' Eve'', the Golden Globe Awards, and ''So You Think You Can Dance'' (with 19 Entertainment). Sunday Times Golden Globe Race
The ''Sunday Times'' Golden Globe Race was a non-stop, single-handed sailing, single-handed, circumnavigation, round-the-world yacht racing, yacht race, held in 1968–1969, and was the first round-the-world yacht race. 2018 Golden Globe Race
The 2018 Golden Globe Race was an around-the-world sailing race which started on 1 July 2018 from Les Sables-d'Olonne, France. The 2018 competition was the second edition and celebrated the 50th anniversary of the original ''Sunday Times'' Golden Globe Race. It featured yachts similar to those used at that time. Except for safety equipment, no modern technology was allowed. Retro sailing Entrants are limited to sailing similar yachts and equipment to what was available to Sir Robin Knox-Johnston, the winner of the original race in 1968–69. That means sailing without the use of modern technology such as satellite based navigation aids.
