Golden Ariel
The Golden Ariel ( es, Ariel de Oro) is an award that “symbolizes the work of excellence that a member of the film industry has achieved throughout their career and that has contributed to the development and growth of Mexican cinematography”. The Golden Ariel is the highest award given to an individual or institution in the Mexican film industry by the Mexican Academy of Cinematographic Arts and Sciences. It has been awarded annually since 1946 as part of the Ariel Awards and is also given to films that win Best Picture. As of 2020 ceremony, the current recipients are composer Lucía Álvarez and actress María Rojo. Mexican Film Industry
Mexican cinema dates to the late nineteenth century during the rule of President Porfirio Díaz. Seeing a demonstration of short films in 1896, Díaz immediately saw the importance of documenting his presidency in order to present an ideal image of it. With the outbreak of the Mexican Revolution in 1910, Mexican and foreign makers of silent films seized the opportunity to document its leaders and events. From 1915 onward, Mexican cinema focused on narrative film. During the Golden Age of Mexican cinema from 1936 to 1956, Mexico all but dominated the Latin American film industry. Miguel Zacarías
Miguel Zacarías Nogaim (19 March 1905 – 20 April 2006) was a Mexican film director, producer, and writer. Career Zacarías began directing for film in 1933. Even from his early career he developed a reputation for recognizing new acting talent; he promoted the careers of the some of Mexico's most notable actors including Pedro Armendáriz in ''Rosario'' (1935), María Félix, Marga López, Esther Fernández, Pedro Infante, Tin Tan, Cantinflas, and Manuel Medel. His 1961 film '' Juana Gallo'' was entered into the 2nd Moscow International Film Festival. Zacarías directed his last film in 1986. His son is film director Alfredo Zacarias. His granddaughter is playwright Karen Zacarias. Marga López
Catalina Margarita López Ramos (; June 21, 1924 – July 4, 2005), known professionally as Marga López, was an Argentine-born Mexican actress. Biography Born Catalina Margarita López Ramos in June 21st, 1924 in San Miguel de Tucumán, Argentina. Even though she was born in Argentina, she later acquired Mexican citizenship. Her parents were Pedro López Sánchez and Dolores Ramos Nava. She had six siblings: Juan, Miguel, Dolores, Pedro, María and Manuel. Fernando de Fuentes Carrau (December 12, 1894 – July 4, 1958) was a Mexican film director, considered a pioneer in the film industry worldwide. He is perhaps best known for directing the films ''El prisionero trece'', ''El compadre Mendoza'', and '' Vámonos con Pancho Villa'', all part of his '' Revolution Trilogy'' on the Mexican Revolution. Ismael Rodríguez
Ismael Rodríguez (October 19, 1917 – August 7, 2004) was a Mexican film director. Rodríguez rose to fame due to the movies he directed starring Pedro Infante, and directed many major stars, including Dolores del Río, María Félix, Toshiro Mifune, Jorge Negrete, Sara García, Luis Aguilar, Tito Guízar, Gloria Marín, Carmelita González, Antonio Aguilar, Columba Domínguez or Flor Silvestre.
