Gold Coast Breakers
The Bond University Rugby Club is an Australian rugby union football club that competes in the Queensland Premier Rugby competition. The club is based at the Bond University campus on Queensland's Gold Coast, Queensland, Gold Coast. Bond University entered into a partnership in 2013 with the Gold Coast Breakers#Gold Coast Breakers, Gold Coast Breakers team that had played in the Premier Rugby competition since 1997. After the Breakers disbanded following the 2013 season, a restructured club under the Bond University name was established for the 2014 season. History The Gold Coast Eagles, who became the founding club of the Gold Coast and District Rugby Union, GCDRU, played one season in the Brisbane first grade premiership in 1968 before returning to the Queensland Suburban Rugby Union, Queensland Sub-district competition. Queensland Rugby Union
The Queensland Rugby Union, or QRU, is the Sports governing body, governing body for the sport of rugby union within the state of Queensland in Australia. It is a member and founding union of Rugby Australia. The QRU was founded in Brisbane in 1883 as the ''Northern Rugby Union'', after breaking away from the Queensland Football Association before being formally constituted in 1893 when the name was changed to the Queensland Rugby Football Union. The first 1883 season began with two clubs: Fireflies and Wanderers. Early intercolonials were played at Eagle Farm Racecourse. Terry Jackman
Terry Jackman (born 1943 in Brisbane) is a retired businessman involved in media, sports, and tourism in Australia. He was the chairman of Tourism Queensland and the founder and chairman of Pacific Cinemas. He commenced work at the age of fifteen at Birch Carroll & Coyle, where he worked for twenty years, the last five as that company's chief executive. Between 1976 and 1985, Jackman was managing director of Hoyts Theatres. After exiting Hoyts he was involved in marketing Paul Hogan's first Crocodile Dundee film and was an investor in the movie. In 1989 he established Pacific Cinemas Pty Ltd, which has interests in five complexes in Sydney, the Gold Coast, and Brisbane. He is chairman and sole proprietor of the group.
