The Gold Coast Blue Tongues (formerly the Brisbane Blue Tongues) was a semi-professional ice hockey team based in Bundall, Queensland, Australia. The team was a member of the Australian Ice Hockey League (AIHL). The Blue Tongues were founded in 2005 as an expansion AIHL team and played in the league for eight seasons between 2005 and 2012. The team’s home venue was Iceland Bundall, located on the Gold Coast, Queensland. The Blue Tongues never won any major titles and ceased operations in 2015. Bundall is a suburb in the City of Gold Coast, Queensland, Australia. In the , Bundall had a population of 4,523 people. Geography Bundall is bounded by the Slayter Road to the north (), Bundall Road to the east (), Nerang River to the south-east and south (), and an unnamed canal from the Nerang River to the south-west and west (). Sorrento is a neighbourhood within the south of Bundall (). It takes its name from a canal real estate development on the Nerang River that created 800 waterfront blocks and 400 "dry" blocks. The Melbourne Ice is an Australian semi-professional ice hockey team from Melbourne, Victoria, based at the Icehouse in the Docklands precinct of central Melbourne. Founded in 2000, the Ice have been a member of the Australian Ice Hockey League (AIHL) since 2002, and are four-time Goodall Cup champions and H Newman Reid Trophy premiers. History Foundation The Melbourne Ice was established in 2000 by Mark Weber after the initial three AIHL teams asked Weber to start a team in Melbourne. 2008 AIHL Season
The 2008 AIHL season was the ninth season of the Australian Ice Hockey League (AIHL). It ran from 19 April 2008 until 24 August 2008, with the Goodall Cup finals following on 30 and 31 August 2008. The Bears won the H Newman Reid Trophy (backdated) after finishing the regular season first in the league standings. The Newcastle North Stars won the Goodall Cup for the fourth time by defeating the Western Sydney Ice Dogs in the final. Gaétan Royer (born March 13, 1976) is a Canadian former professional ice hockey right winger. Biography Royer was born in Donnacona, Quebec. As a youth, he played in the 1990 Quebec International Pee-Wee Hockey Tournament with a minor ice hockey team from Sainte-Foy, Quebec City. Tyrone "Ty" Garner (born July 27, 1978) is a Canadian professional ice hockey player. He was drafted by the New York Islanders in the fourth round, 83rd overall in the 1996 NHL Entry Draft. Playing career Garner was born in Stoney Creek, Ontario. Juniors Garner played three NHL games in his career, for the Calgary Flames in 1998–99 as an emergency callup from his junior team, the Oshawa Generals. Rob Zamuner
Robert F. Zamuner (born September 17, 1969) is a Canadian former professional ice hockey forward, who played thirteen seasons in the NHL, most notably with the Tampa Bay Lightning. Playing career Zamuner played junior hockey for the Guelph Platers of the Ontario Hockey League and was drafted 45th overall by the New York Rangers in the 1987 NHL Entry Draft. He played only briefly for New York, spending more time on their AHL affiliate in Binghamton. In 1992 he signed as a free agent with the expansion Tampa Bay Lightning when the Rangers showed little interest in re-signing him. In Tampa he developed a reputation as a competent, hard working, defensive-minded forward, and was named team captain in 1998.
