''Going to California'' is a concert performance video by the British group Tears for Fears. Released in 1990, it is a recording of the band's show at the Santa Barbara County Bowl in May 1990 during their "Seeds of Love" World Tour. The performance also features American vocalist/pianist Oleta Adams who had worked with the band on their album ''The Seeds of Love'' and joined them for the subsequent world tour. ''Going to California'' was initially released on VHS home video and Laserdisc, and was later released on DVD in 2005 as an "extra feature" on the band's ''Scenes from the Big Chair'' documentary DVD, complete with an updated 5.1 soundtrack audio option. Tears For Fears
Tears for Fears are an English pop rock band formed in Bath, England, in 1981 by Roland Orzabal and Curt Smith. Founded after the dissolution of their first band, the mod-influenced Graduate, Tears for Fears were associated with the new wave synthesizer bands of the early 1980s, and attained international chart success. Neil Taylor (born 26 January 1961) is an English guitarist, best known for his long-time affiliation with Robbie Williams and for formerly being a member of Tears for Fears. Career Taylor started playing in local bands in his youth before joining Neon (British band), Neon as a session musician in the early 1980s. During this time he met Curt Smith and Roland Orzabal who, after founding Tears for Fears, asked Taylor to tour with them and play guitar tracks for their second album, ''Songs from the Big Chair'' (1985), and their third ''The Seeds of Love'' (1989). Curt Smith
Curt Smith (born 24 June 1961) is a British singer, songwriter, musician, record producer, and co-founding member of the pop rock band Tears for Fears along with childhood friend Roland Orzabal. Smith plays bass guitar, has co-written several of the band's songs, and sings lead vocals on the hits "Mad World", "Pale Shelter", "Change", " The Way You Are", "Everybody Wants to Rule the World", and "Advice for the Young at Heart". After his departure from Tears for Fears in 1991, Smith pursued a solo career and released his debut studio album, ''Soul on Board'', in 1993. Roland Orzabal (born Roland Jaime Orzabal de la Quintana; 22 August 1961) is a British musician, singer-songwriter, record producer, and author. He is best known as a co-founder of Tears for Fears, of which he is the main songwriter and joint vocalist. Orzabal has been the only constant member of the band, having appeared on every Tears for Fears studio album. He has also achieved success as a producer of artists such as Oleta Adams.
