Kelvin Goertzen
Kelvin Goertzen (born June 12, 1969) is a Canadian politician who served as the 23rd premier of Manitoba from September to November, 2021. A member of the Progressive Conservative Party of Manitoba, he is a member of the Legislative Assembly of Manitoba for Steinbach, first elected in the 2003 provincial election, and was re-elected in 2007, 2011, 2016, and most recently in 2019. Goertzen served as interim leader of the PC party, from September 1, 2021 to October 30, 2021. He was sworn as premier on September 1, 2021. Goertzen was succeeded as premier on the afternoon of November 2, 2021, by Heather Stefanson who won the PC leadership election on October 30. Kathi Goertzen
Kathi Goertzen (April 30, 1958 – August 13, 2012) was a longtime co-news anchor of Seattle ABC affiliate KOMO-TV along with Dan Lewis (the 6PM edition) and also the 5PM edition with Eric Johnson. She joined KOMO in June 1980, after the eruption of Mount St. Helens and did many special newscasts thereafter, including the fall of the Berlin Wall (she was the first local American TV news reporter to do so). Before KOMO Kathi Goertzen was born in Seattle on April 30, 1958. She graduated from Queen Anne High School and had initially set out to be a veterinarian. However, she changed her career goals after witnessing a dog necropsy, and then aspired to become a journalist, enrolling at Washington State University. Steven Goertzen (born May 26, 1984) is a Canadian-born former professional ice hockey winger who played in the National Hockey League for the Columbus Blue Jackets, Phoenix Coyotes and the Carolina Hurricanes. Playing career Born in Stony Plain, Alberta, Goertzen started his junior hockey career with the tier II St. Albert Saints of the Alberta Junior Hockey League, but soon caught on with the Western Hockey League's Seattle Thunderbirds. After his first season with Seattle, Goertzen was selected 225th overall in the 2002 NHL Entry Draft by the Columbus Blue Jackets, and after three seasons and 81 points with the Thunderbirds, Goertzen moved to the professional ranks. Mary Lou Goertzen (1929–2020) was an American artist, peace activist and Mennonite. Mary Lou and her late husband Ernie (1926–2004) are the subjects of the documentary ''Kind, True and Necessary'' (2006) by James Knight. The film documents their life of art, Christian pacifism and simple living. Ernie was a conscientious objector and, like his wife, an artist and Mennonite. Life They lived in an old schoolhouse in Deadwood, Oregon from 1975. She was also a member of the Berkeley Friends Meeting (Quaker) and attended the Florence Worship Group, which is connected to the Eugene Friends Meeting. Mary Lou lived until her death in the spacious old schoolhouse and hosted Quaker meetings there every fifth Sunday of the month (if that month had a 5th Sunday). Glenda Goertzen (born 1967) is a Canadian author of children's and young adult fantasy, including the children's novel ''The Prairie Dogs''. Life and work Goertzen wrote the first draft of ''The Prairie Dogs'' while she was in high school.
