Godfrey Reggio
Godfrey Reggio (born March 29, 1940) is an American director of experimental documentary films. Life Reggio was born in New Orleans, Louisiana to an old and distinguished Louisiana family descended from Francesco M. de Reggio, an Italian nobleman who first settled in France and then in French Louisiana around 1750. From the age of 14, Reggio spent the next fourteen years in fasting, times of silence, and prayer, training to be a friar within the Congregation of Christian Brothers, a Roman Catholic pontifical teaching order. During his time with the order, Reggio co-founded La Clinica de la Gente, a facility that provided medical care to 12,000 community members in Santa Fe, New Mexico, and La Gente, a community-organizing project in northern New Mexico's barrios. In 1963 he co-founded Young Citizens for Action, a community organization project that aided juveniles in the street gangs of Santa Fe. ''Anima Mundi'' (also known as ''The Soul of the World'') is a 1991 Italian-American short documentary film directed by Godfrey Reggio. The film focuses on the world of nature and wildlife, particularly jungles, sealife, and insects. A film director controls a film's artistic and dramatic aspects and visualizes the screenplay (or script) while guiding the film crew and actors in the fulfilment of that vision. ''Songlines'' is a video released by the German band Alphaville in 1989, created during the production of Alphaville's 1989 album ''The Breathtaking Blue''. Background Nine directors (or directing teams) from seven countries were each given a different track from ''The Breathtaking Blue'' and asked to make a short movie inspired by the song. The title 'Songlines' is a reference to the Australian aboriginal belief that "the gods created the world and everything in it by wandering through the desert and calling creation into life through their singing. Till this day, Aborigines follow these songlines, guided by totems which the gods left behind for them". Jon Kane
Jon Kane is a film editor, director, and DJ based in Red Hook, Brooklyn, New York. Career Kane was the editor of ''Naqoyqatsi'', the third film in the Qatsi Trilogy directed by Godfrey Reggio and scored by Philip Glass. Kane has also done notable work as a commercial director and editor. The New York Times has described his style as "psychedelic."
