Godflesh Songs
The English industrial metal band Godflesh have released 184 songs; 129 are original tracks, 50 are remixes done by the band of their own songs and 5 are covers. The group, initially composed of B. C. Green and Paul Neville, formed in 1982 as Fall of Because but did not release any complete music until 1988 after Justin Broadrick joined, became frontman and renamed the project Godflesh. Though their debut, a self-titled EP, was released on a small, independent label named Swordfish, it was successful and drew the attention of Earache Records. After being picked up by Earache, Godflesh released the albums ''Streetcleaner'' (1989) and ''Pure'' (1992) and were then acquired by Columbia Records. Following the disappointing sales of their third album, 1994's '' Selfless'', and the ban of the music video for " Crush My Soul", Columbia dropped Godflesh, and the band returned to Earache. Roadburn Festival
Roadburn Festival is an international music festival held in Tilburg, Netherlands every April since 1999. It was set up as a spin-off from the Roadburn music blog founded by Jurgen van den Brand and Walter Hoeijmakers. Originally focused on stoner rock, Roadburn grew into a major event spanning the entire spectrum of heavy rock and experimental music. The key staff involved with running the festival are Frens Frijns (managing director, CEO of Tilburg's 013 venue), Walter Hoeijmakers (promoter, artistic director) and Becky Laverty (press, communication, side programme). Since 2014, Roadburn Festival publishes a daily fanzine that is distributed freely to its attendees. Selfless (album)
''Selfless'' is the third studio album by British industrial metal band Godflesh. It was released on 26 September 1994 in Europe and on 18 October 1994 through Earache and Columbia Records. Being the band's major-label debut, the record features a more conventional and rock-oriented sound compared to Godflesh's previous releases. It spawned two singles, " Xnoybis" and " Crush My Soul". The music video for the latter was directed by photographer Andres Serrano. At the 2018 Roadburn Festival, ''Selfless'' was performed live in its near entirety for the first time. "Go Spread Your Wings", the album's 23-minute closing track, was substituted with "Messiah" and "Merciless", two songs recorded in the same sessions as ''Selfless''. Heavy metal (or simply metal) is a genre of rock music that developed in the late 1960s and early 1970s, largely in the United Kingdom and United States. ''Post Self'' is the eighth studio album by English industrial metal band Godflesh. It was released on 17 November 2017 through frontman Justin Broadrick's own record label, Avalanche Recordings, and was the band's second album since reforming in 2010. The single "Post Self" was released for streaming on 31 October 2017, and a second track, "Be God", was released for streaming on 11 November 2017, six days in advance of the full release. Godflesh avoided interviews in the wake of ''Post Self'', hoping to retain some of the album's purity and give listeners a chance to digest the music in a vacuum. It was released on 7 October 2014 through frontman Justin Broadrick's own label, Avalanche Recordings, and was the band's first full-length album since 2001's ''Hymns''. It was preceded by the digital singles "New Dark Ages" in August 2014 and "Imperator" in September 2014, and it was followed by several international tours. Musically, ''A World Lit Only by Fire'' is a particularly heavy album driven by repetitive machine percussion, frontman Justin Broadrick's employment of an eight-string guitar and G. C. Green's distorted bass. ''Hymns'' is the sixth studio album by English industrial metal band Godflesh. It was released on 23 October 2001 through Music for Nations and was the band's final album before breaking up in 2002. In 2010, Godflesh reformed and in 2014 released their comeback album '' A World Lit Only by Fire''. ''Hymns'' had a troubled production and was intended to be distinct departure from Godflesh's intensely regimented industrial sound to something more traditionally hard rock. It was the band's second and final album to feature a live drummer rather than a drum machine. Us And Them (Godflesh Album)
''Us and Them'' is the fifth studio album by English band Godflesh. It was released through Earache Records on 17 May 1999 in Europe and on 8 June 1999 in North America. As with Godflesh's 1997 remix album ''Love and Hate in Dub'', ''Us and Them'' is influenced by breakbeats, drum and bass, oldschool jungle, trip hop and hip hop. Shortly after ''Us and Them's'' release, Godflesh frontman Justin Broadrick admitted that he "hated" the album as it was the expression of an "identity crisis". Years later, he revised his thoughts, saying that his hatred of ''Us and Them'' was "overstated", and that his main issue in the album lies in its more "cringe-worthy moments." Love And Hate In Dub
''Love and Hate in Dub'' is remix album by industrial metal band Godflesh released on 24 June 1997 through Earache Records. The remixed songs are sourced from their 1996 album ''Songs of Love and Hate'', and they adopt a more ambient, dub and drum and bass flavor. Background and content Originally, Godflesh frontman Justin Broadrick wanted to get hip hop's top producers to remix the tracks for ''Love and Hate in Dub'' (which was tentatively titled ''Songs of Love and Hate in Dub''). This ultimately proved too expensive. As a result and unlike most remix albums, all tracks on ''Love and Hate in Dub'' were made and reworked in-house, done by Godflesh's two members, Broadrick and G. C. Green. Broadrick saw ''Love and Hate in Dub'' as a sort of response to ''Songs of Love and Hate'', which he found "flat" in comparison. ''Songs of Love and Hate'' is the fourth studio album by English industrial metal band Godflesh. Released on 20 August 1996 through Earache Records, it is the band's first album to feature live drums, played by drummer Bryan Mantia, and a more traditional heavy metal sound, generally lacking the experimental and mechanical elements of previous releases. The cover is a photograph of Cancer Alley, Louisiana. An accompanying dub-inspired remix album, ''Love and Hate in Dub'', was released in 1997. Both records were reissued by Earache in 2009.
