__NOTOC__ Gmina Staszów is an urban-rural gmina (administrative district) in Staszów County, Świętokrzyskie Voivodeship, in south-central Poland. Its seat is the town of Staszów, which lies approximately south-east of the regional capital Kielce. The gmina covers an area of , and as of 2010 its total population is 26,077 (out of which the population of Staszów amounts to 15,108, and the population of the rural part of the gmina is 10,969). Demography According to the 2011 Poland census, there were 26,077 people residing in Staszów Commune, of whom 48.8% were male and 51.2% were female (out of which the population in rural areas amounts to 10,969, of whom 49.6% were male and 50.4% were female). The gmina (Polish: , plural ''gminy'' , from German ''Gemeinde'' meaning ''commune'') is the principal unit of the administrative division of Poland, similar to a municipality. , there were 2,477 gminas throughout the country, encompassing over 43,000 villages. 940 gminas include cities and towns, with 302 among them constituting an independent urban gmina ( pl, gmina miejska) consisting solely of a standalone town or one of the 107 cities, the latter governed by a city mayor (''prezydent miasta''). Kurozwęki
Kurozwęki is a village in the district of Gmina Staszów, within Staszów County, Świętokrzyskie Voivodeship, in south-central Poland. It lies on the Czarna Staszowska river, in the historic province of Lesser Poland, approximately north-west of Staszów and south-east of the regional capital Kielce. The village's history dates back to the 13th century. It had city rights from before 1400 to 1870. It has several tourist attractions, including a 14th-century palace, open for visitors, with a bison farm nearby, and a 15th-century church. Some time in the mid 14th century, local knight Dobiesław of Kurozwęki built here a castle, which became the seat of the Kurozwęcki noble family (see szlachta). At first the castle was of defensive character, but in the course of the time it was remodeled several times.
