__NOTOC__ Gmina Płaska is a rural gmina (administrative district) in Augustów County, Podlaskie Voivodeship, in north-eastern Poland, on the border with Belarus. Its seat is the village of Płaska, which lies approximately east of Augustów and north of the regional capital Białystok. The gmina covers an area of , and as of 2019 its total population is 2,594. The gmina (Polish: , plural ''gminy'' , from German ''Gemeinde'' meaning ''commune'') is the principal unit of the administrative division of Poland, similar to a municipality. , there were 2,477 gminas throughout the country, encompassing over 43,000 villages. 940 gminas include cities and towns, with 302 among them constituting an independent urban gmina ( pl, gmina miejska) consisting solely of a standalone town or one of the 107 cities, the latter governed by a city mayor (''prezydent miasta''). Mikaszówka
Mikaszówka is a village in the administrative district of Gmina Płaska, within Augustów County, Podlaskie Voivodeship, in north-eastern Poland, close to the border with Belarus. It lies approximately east of Płaska, east of Augustów, and north of the regional capital Białystok. The Mikaszówka Lock of the Augustów Canal is located in Mikaszówka. History In 1827, Mikaszówka had a population of 95, and in the late 19th century it had a population of 128. During the Occupation of Poland (1939–1945), German occupation of Poland (World War II), in April 1940, the Germans arrested Polish priests Stanisław Piotr Konstantynowicz and in the village, and then imprisoned them in Suwałki and eventually deported them to Nazi concentration camps, concentration camps.
