__NOTOC__ Gmina Oborniki Śląskie is an urban-rural gmina (administrative district) in Trzebnica County, Lower Silesian Voivodeship, in south-western Poland. Its seat is the town of Oborniki Śląskie, which lies approximately west of Trzebnica, and north-west of the regional capital Wrocław. The gmina covers an area of , and as of 2019 its total population is 20,261. It is part of the larger Wrocław metropolitan area. The gmina (Polish: , plural ''gminy'' , from German ''Gemeinde'' meaning ''commune'') is the principal unit of the administrative division of Poland, similar to a municipality. , there were 2,477 gminas throughout the country, encompassing over 43,000 villages. 940 gminas include cities and towns, with 302 among them constituting an independent urban gmina ( pl, gmina miejska) consisting solely of a standalone town or one of the 107 cities, the latter governed by a city mayor (''prezydent miasta''). Uraz (german: Auras) is a village (former city) in the administrative district of Gmina Oborniki Śląskie, within Trzebnica County, Lower Silesian Voivodeship, in south-western Poland. History In the middle of the 13th century, there was a prince's stronghold in Uraz, managed by the castellan. Landmarks The main church, the Church of Archangel Michael, was mentioned in 1218. The present church was built in 1750–1789 in the Baroque style. It was restored in the 19th century, but burned down in 1945.
