__NOTOC__ Gmina Mierzęcice is a rural gmina (administrative district) in Będzin County, Silesian Voivodeship, in southern Poland. Its seat is the village of Mierzęcice, which lies approximately north of Będzin and north-east of the regional capital Katowice. The gmina covers an area of , and as of 2019 its total population is 7,676. Villages Gmina Mierzęcice contains the villages and settlements of Boguchwałowice, Mierzęcice, Mierzęcice Osiedle, Najdziszów, Nowa Wieś, Przeczyce, Sadowie, Toporowice and Zawada. The gmina (Polish: , plural ''gminy'' , from German ''Gemeinde'' meaning ''commune'') is the principal unit of the administrative division of Poland, similar to a municipality. , there were 2,477 gminas throughout the country, encompassing over 43,000 villages. 940 gminas include cities and towns, with 302 among them constituting an independent urban gmina ( pl, gmina miejska) consisting solely of a standalone town or one of the 107 cities, the latter governed by a city mayor (''prezydent miasta'').
