__NOTOC__ Gmina Kisielice is an urban-rural gmina (administrative district) in Iława County, Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship, in northern Poland. Its seat is the town of Kisielice, which lies approximately west of Iława and west of the regional capital Olsztyn. The gmina covers an area of , and as of 2006 its total population is 6,232 (out of which the population of Kisielice amounts to 2,208, and the population of the rural part of the gmina is 4,024). The gmina (Polish: , plural ''gminy'' , from German ''Gemeinde'' meaning ''commune'') is the principal unit of the administrative division of Poland, similar to a municipality. , there were 2,477 gminas throughout the country, encompassing over 43,000 villages. 940 gminas include cities and towns, with 302 among them constituting an independent urban gmina ( pl, gmina miejska) consisting solely of a standalone town or one of the 107 cities, the latter governed by a city mayor (''prezydent miasta''). The gmina has been the basic unit of territorial division in Poland since 1974, when it replaced the smaller gromada (cluster). Ogrodzieniec (german: Neudeck) is a village in the administrative district of Gmina Kisielice, within Iława County, Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship, in northern Poland. It was renowned as the country residence of German President Paul von Hindenburg, who died there in 1934. Geography It lies in the southwest of the voivodeship, approximately east of Kisielice, west of Iława, and west of the regional capital Olsztyn. History The German name of the village, ''Neudeck'', is probably derived from Old Prussian ''Najdekai''. The area settled by Pomesanian tribes was conquered by the Teutonic Knights from 1234 onwards. ''Neudeck'' was founded about 1320 by a Teutonic lokator; it was devastated in the Polish–Teutonic Hunger War of 1414.
