Glâne District (german: Glânebezirk; french: District de la Glâne; frp, District de la Gllânna ) is one of seven districts in the Canton of Fribourg in Switzerland. It has a population of (as of ). Glâne (river)
Glâne (; frp, (la) Gllânna ) is a river in Switzerland that crosses part of the Canton of Fribourg. It is a tributary of the Saane/Sarine, Sarine and a sub-tributary of the Rhine river. The Neirigue and the Glèbe are its two largest tributaries. The river gave its name to the surrounding Glâne (district), Glâne district of the canton. The Glâne has its source in the town of Siviriez, then heads northeast becoming the border between the municipalities of Mézières, Fribourg, Mézières, Romont, Villaz-Saint-Pierre, Villorsonnens and La Folliaz. It then continues east and northeast through the Sarine (district), Sarine district where it borders the municipalities of Chénens, Autigny, Switzerland, Autigny, Farvagny, Cottens, Fribourg, Cottens, Neyruz, Switzerland, Neyruz and Matran, finally joining the Sarine River on the border between Villars-sur-Glâne and Hauterive, Fribourg, Hauterive. Losser () is a municipality and a town in the eastern Netherlands. It is at the eastern end of the A1 motorway. Bad Iburg
Bad Iburg (; Westphalian: ''Bad Ibig'') is a spa town in the district of Osnabrück, in Lower Saxony, Germany. It is situated in the Teutoburg Forest, 16 km south of Osnabrück. Bad Iburg is also the name of a municipality which includes the town and four outlying centres: Glane, Ostenfelde, Sentrup and Visbeck. The most important building is Schloss Iburg above the town. It is a complex of a castle which was the residence of the bishops of Osnabrück for six hundred years and a former monastery of the Order of Saint Benedict. History Bad Iburg was first mentioned in 753 in a Frankish document. In 772 the Frankish King Charlemagne captured the “Royal castle Iburg”, from his chief antagonist, the Saxon leader Widukind. Oradour-sur-Glane (commune)
Oradour-sur-Glane (; oc, Orador de Glana) was a commune in the Haute-Vienne department, New Aquitaine, west central France, as well as the name of the main village within the commune. History The original village was destroyed on 10 June 1944, four days after D-Day, when 643 of its inhabitants, including women and children, were massacred by a company of troops belonging to the 2nd SS Panzer Division ''Das Reich'', a Waffen-SS unit of the military forces of Nazi Germany in World War II. A new village was built after the war on a nearby site, but on the orders of president Charles de Gaulle, the original has been maintained as a permanent memorial. The Centre de la mémoire d'Oradour museum is located beside the historic site.
