''Glue Sniffer'' () is a 1999 Spanish-language film directed by Elia Schneider. It was an international co-production between Spain and Venezuela. It was Venezuela's official Best Foreign Language Film submission at the 72nd Academy Awards, but did not manage to receive a nomination. It won at the 2000 International Human Rights Film Festival. Synopsis The 11-year-old Oliver is driven out of his mother's house by abuse from her new boyfriend, and then he struggles to live on the streets. He tries to avoid the crime common to young homeless children, but life gets harder when a drug gang tries to recruit him. Biography Miguel Adolfo Cubas Contreras was born on December 2, 1964 in Caracas, Venezuela. He grew up in a conservative family. Cubas wanted to become a priest and he attended a Catholic seminar school with that purpose in mind, but he left the school after two years. ''Los olvidados'' (, Spanish: ''The Forgotten Ones''; known in the United States as ''The Young and the Damned'') is a 1950 Mexican teen crime film directed by Luis Buñuel. It was filmed at Tepeyac Studios and on location in Mexico City. Producer Óscar Dancigers sought Buñuel to direct following the success of ''El Gran Calavera'' (1949). Buñuel already had a script ready titled ''¡Mi huerfanito jefe!'' about a boy who sells lottery tickets. However, Dancigers had in mind a more realistic and serious depiction of children in poverty in Mexico City. After conducting research, Jesús Camacho and Buñuel came up with a script that Dancigers was pleased with. The film can be seen in the tradition of social realism, although it also contains elements of surrealism present in much of Buñuel's work. The International Film Festival and Forum on Human Rights (FIFDH) is one of the most important international events dedicated to cinema and human rights, located in the heart of Geneva, "international capital of human rights". José Ramón Novoa
Joseph Novoa (José Ramón Novoa or José R. Novoa) is a Venezuelan-Uruguayan film director and executive producer. He is married to the director and scriptwriter Elia K. Schneider and fathered the film director Joel Novoa. Biography Joseph Novoa was born in Montevideo, Uruguay on August 22, 1950. He studied architecture in Uruguay but his real path was the arts. He started his entertainment career at El Teatro Circular of Uruguay. Following his dream, he moved to Paris to study Performance Arts in the L'École Internationale de Théâtre Jacques Lecoq.
