Gloria Macarenko
Gloria Macarenko, is a Canadian television and radio journalist. From 1989 until 2014, she was the longtime host or co-host of CBC Vancouver's supper-hour television newscast at 5:00 or 6:00. She later hosted the CBC Radio One local program '' B.C. Almanac'' and the national CBC Radio One documentary series '' The Story from Here''. In January 2018 she took over as the host of ''On The Coast'', CBC Radio One's daily afternoon program in the Vancouver area. Macarenko has been a guest anchor on '' The National'' and ''CBC News Now'' on CBC News Network. Early life and career Macarenko was raised in Prince Rupert, British Columbia and graduated from Prince Rupert Secondary School. ''Canada Now'' (more formally ''CBC News: Canada Now'') was the early-evening national news program on CBC Television, the main English television network of the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation, between 2000 and 2007. Pacific National Exhibition
The Pacific National Exhibition (PNE) is a nonprofit organization that operates an annual 15-day summer fair, 10-day winter fair, a seasonal amusement park, and indoor arenas in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. The PNE fair is held at Hastings Park, beginning in mid-to-late August and ending in early September, usually Labour Day, and in mid-December until Christmas. The organization was established in 1907 as the Vancouver Exhibition Association, and organized its first fair at Hastings Park in 1910. The organization was renamed to the Pacific National Exhibition in 1946. Peggys Cove, Nova Scotia
Peggy's Cove is a small rural community located on the eastern shore of St. Margarets Bay in the Halifax Regional Municipality, which is the site of Peggys Cove Lighthouse (established 1868). Geography Peggy's Cove is 43 kilometers (26 miles) southwest of Downtown Halifax and comprises one of the numerous small fishing communities located around the perimeter of the Chebucto Peninsula. The community is named after the cove of the same name, a name also shared with Peggy's Point, immediately to the east of the cove. The village marks the eastern point of the St. Margarets Bay. History The first recorded name of the cove was Eastern Point Harbour or Peggs Harbour in 1766.
