Most well known as a Doo Wop standard, "Gloria" is a song written by Leon René in the 1940s. The original version of "Gloria" as written by Leon René was first recorded in 1946 as a pop tune, by bandleader Norman "Buddy" Baker with vocal by Bob Hayward, on René's Exclusive label. It was next recorded by Johnny Moore's Three Blazers, with the vocal by Charles Brown, also on Exclusive, and released in April 1947. The first version to reach the national charts (#17) was by The Mills Brothers (info taken from the Mills Brothers Wikipedia page). The Lumineers
The Lumineers are an American alternative folk band based in Denver, Colorado. The founding members are Wesley Schultz (lead vocals, guitar) and Jeremiah Fraites (drums, percussion, piano). Schultz and Fraites began writing and performing together in Ramsey, New Jersey, in 2005. Cellist and vocalist Neyla Pekarek joined the band in 2010, and was a member until 2018. The Lumineers emerged as one of the most popular folk-rock/Americana artists during the revival of those genres, their popularity growing in the 2010s. Mineral is an American emo band originally from Houston, Texas. Soon after their formation, they relocated to Austin, Texas, Austin. All four members of Mineral were signed to Interscope Records on individual contracts. After disbanding in 1998, its members worked on other musical projects, including The Gloria Record, Pop Unknown, and Zookeeper. In 2010, a compilation CD of all the band's songs (except for "Sadder Star") was released in Japan, entitled ''TheCompleteCollection''. Mineral announced a reunion tour on April 24, 2014.
