Glolarnaca Hainanica
''Glolarnaca'' is a genus of Orthopterans, sometimes known as 'leaf-folding crickets' in the tribe Gryllacridini. The recorded distribution is from China, Vietnam and Cambodia. ''Glolarnaca'' was originally described as the subgenus ''Zalarnaca (Glolarnaca)'' by AV Gorochov; its elevation to genus level in subfamily Gryllacridinae has been accepted by authorities such as Cadena-Castañeda and Yang. Species such as ''G. globiceps'' (originally identified from Cambodia and Vietnam) have also been placed in other more related genera such as ''Gryllacris'' and also ''Capnogryllacris''.Gorochov AV (2003) ''Entomologicheskoe Obozrenie'' 82(3): 639. Species The ''Orthoptera Species File'' lists: # ''Glolarnaca elegantula'' (Ingrisch, 2018) # ''Glolarnaca globiceps'' (Karny, 1929) (Indochina, 3 subspecies) # '' Glolarnaca hainanica'' (Li, Liu & Li, 2016) # '' Glolarnaca kunyui'' Yang, Lu & Bian, 2021 # '' Glolarnaca nigrimacula'' Yang, Lu & Bian, 2021 # ''Glolarnaca ornatula'' (Goroc ...

Orthoptera
Orthoptera () is an order of insects that comprises the grasshoppers, locusts, and crickets, including closely related insects, such as the bush crickets or katydids and wētā. The order is subdivided into two suborders: Caelifera – grasshoppers, locusts, and close relatives; and Ensifera – crickets and close relatives. More than 20,000 species are distributed worldwide. The insects in the order have incomplete metamorphosis, and produce sound (known as a "stridulation") by rubbing their wings against each other or their legs, the wings or legs containing rows of corrugated bumps. The tympanum, or ear, is located in the front tibia in crickets, mole crickets, and bush crickets or katydids, and on the first abdominal segment in the grasshoppers and locusts. These organisms use vibrations to locate other individuals. Grasshoppers and other orthopterans are able to fold their wings (i.e. they are members of Neoptera). Etymology The name is derived from the Greek ὀρθό ...

Ensifera Genera
Ensifera is a suborder of insects that includes the various types of crickets and their allies including: true crickets, camel crickets, bush crickets or katydids, grigs, weta and Cooloola monsters. This and the suborder Caelifera (grasshoppers and their allies) make up the order Orthoptera. Ensifera is believed to be a more ancient group than Caelifera, with its origins in the Carboniferous period, the split having occurred at the end of the Permian period. Unlike the Caelifera, the Ensifera contain numerous members that are partially carnivorous, feeding on other insects, as well as plants. ''Ensifer'' is Latin for "sword bearer", and refers to the typically elongated and blade-like ovipositor of the females. Characteristics Characteristics shared by the two orthopteran suborders, Caelifera and Ensifera, are the mouthparts adapted for biting and chewing, the modified prothorax, the hind legs modified for jumping, the wing shape and venation, and the sound-producing stridu ...

Indochina
Mainland Southeast Asia, also known as the Indochinese Peninsula or Indochina, is the continental portion of Southeast Asia. It lies east of the Indian subcontinent and south of Mainland China and is bordered by the Indian Ocean to the west and the Pacific Ocean to the east. It includes the countries of Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar, Thailand and Vietnam, with peninsular Malaysia sometimes also being included. The term Indochina (originally Indo-China) was coined in the early nineteenth century, emphasizing the historical cultural influence of Indian and Chinese civilizations on the area. The term was later adopted as the name of the colony of French Indochina (today's Cambodia, Laos, and Vietnam). Today, the term, Mainland Southeast Asia, in contrast to Maritime Southeast Asia, is more commonly referenced. Terminology The origins of the name Indo-China are usually attributed jointly to the Danish-French geographer Conrad Malte-Brun, who referred to the area as in 1804, and the ...

Tribe (biology)
In biology, a tribe is a taxonomic rank above genus, but below family and subfamily. It is sometimes subdivided into subtribes. By convention, all taxonomic ranks from genus upwards are capitalized, including both tribe and subtribe. In zoology, the standard ending for the name of a zoological tribe is "-ini". Examples include the tribes Caprini (goat-antelopes), Hominini (hominins), Bombini (bumblebees), and Thunnini (tunas). The tribe Hominini is divided into subtribes by some scientists; subtribe Hominina then comprises "humans". The standard ending for the name of a zoological subtribe is "-ina". In botany, the standard ending for the name of a botanical tribe is "-eae". Examples include the tribes Acalypheae and Hyacintheae. The tribe Hyacintheae is divided into subtribes, including the subtribe Massoniinae. The standard ending for the name of a botanical subtribe is "-inae". In bacteriology, the form of tribe names is as in botany, e.g., Pseudomonadeae, based on the ge ...

Glolarnaca Globiceps
''Glolarnaca globiceps'' is a species of Orthopterans, sometimes known as 'leaf-folding crickets' in the tribe Gryllacridini, recorded from Vietnam and Cambodia. The family Gryllacrididae has been subject to extensive revision in the 21st century, illustrated by ''G. globiceps'' having been included in at least four other genera, before the current placement of genus '' Glolarnaca'' in subfamily Gryllacridinae in 2019.
