The counties of Croatia ( hr, hrvatske županije) are the primary administrative subdivisions of the Republic of Croatia. Varaždin County ( hr, Varaždinska županija) is a county in Northern Croatia. It is named after its county seat, the city of Varaždin. Geography The county contains the city of Varaždin, the towns of: Ivanec, Ludbreg, Lepoglava, Novi Marof and Varaždinske Toplice, as well as 22 municipalities. Ludbreg
Ludbreg is a town in Croatia, located halfway between Varaždin and Koprivnica near the river Drava. It has 3,603 inhabitants, and a total of 8,478 in the entire municipality (census 2011). History For centuries Ludbreg has been a popular place of pilgrimage. In 1320 the city was mentioned for the first time as ''Castrum Ludbreg'', when owned by Hungarian noble Nicholas Ludbregi. The name of the town comes probably from a crusader named ''Lobring'', who founded the settlement. The renovated ''Castle of Batthyány'' is home to a well-known restoration workshop. D2 (Croatia)
D2 state road ( hr, Državna cesta D2) is a trunk state road in the northern areas of Croatia that spans from the border crossing with Slovenia at Dubrava Križovljanska in the west via Varaždin, Koprivnica, Virovitica, Našice, Osijek, Vukovar, ending at the Ilok–Bačka Palanka Bridge border crossing with Serbia. The road is long. Route description Most of the D2 route runs parallel to the Drava River which is why it is often called the Drava River valley highway ( hr, Podravska magistrala). However, east of Osijek as the Drava River flows into the Danube, the D2 road follows that river to its eastern terminus near Ilok. Antun Blažić
Antun Blažić (28 May 1916September 1943) was Croatian Jewish Ha-Kol (Glasilo Židovske zajednice u Hrvatskoj); Židovi u antifašističkom pokretu; stranica 38; broj 109, ožujak / travanj / svibanj 2009. Partisan and People's Hero of Yugoslavia. Blažić was born in Globočec Ludbreški on 28 May 1916. In 1941, Blažić become a member of the Communist Party of Yugoslavia. During World War II, he was actively involved in the organization of the Ludbreg region uprising. In the summer of 1941, as one of the first in his region, Blažić joined the Partisans. With Partisans he was a commissioner assistant to a detachment assigned to form the task force in the Ludbreg region. Since 1943, Blažić was member of the League of Communists of Croatia district committee for Varaždin. In Varaždin he also helped the Partisan groups organization. Blažić was member of ZAVNOH.
