Globe High School
Globe High School is a high school in Globe, Arizona. It is the only high school in the Globe Unified School District, which also operates High Desert Middle School and Copper Rim Elementary School. History High school classes were originally held at the Central School. Overcrowding forced the construction of a new facility, and the first Globe High School building was constructed in 1913 and completed the next year. The building had two stories and a basement, and it held 250 students in grades 7 through 12. In 1920, a third story was added on top for the junior high school. Other facilities in the building have included a cafeteria, garage, and locker rooms in the basement, plus caretaker housing in the current nurse's office on the main floor. Globe ( apw, Bésh Baa Gowąh "Place of Metal") is a city in Gila County, Arizona, United States. As of the 2020 census, the population of the city was 7,249. The city is the county seat of Gila County. Globe was founded c. 1875 as a mining camp. Mining, tourism, government and retirees are most important in the present-day Globe economy. The Globe Downtown Historic District was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1987. Miami High School (also known as Miami Junior/Senior High School) is located in the town of Miami, Arizona. It is the only high school in the Miami Unified School District, which also includes two elementary schools. It serves the communities of Miami, Claypool, and Central Heights-Midland City. History The high school opened in 1916 in this small mining town. From 1925 to 1934, it housed grades 7 through 12, and it housed just grades 10 through 12 through 1937. Up until 1999 Miami High School housed the district preschool and grades 9–12. Rose Mofford
Rose Mofford (née Perica; June 10, 1922September 15, 2016) was an American civil servant and politician of the Democratic Party whose career in state government spanned 51 years. Beginning her career with the State of Arizona as a secretary, Mofford worked her way up the ranks to become the state's first female secretary of state from 1977 to 1988 and the state's first female governor from 1988 to 1991.
