Global Tamil Vision
Global Tamil Vision (GTV) is a Tamil language digital satellite television channel. Its main audience are Sri Lankan Tamils living in Europe, Australia and the Middle East. Tharisanam TV Australia was launched in January 2007 after the closure of Sigaram TV Australia in September 2006 due to Sigaram's bankruptcy. Tharisanam TV acquired the existing subscribers from Sigaram TV. In May 2007 when the France-based pay TV, Tamil Television Network (TTN) was shut down, Tharisanam TV acquired the assets and subscribers of Tamil Television Network (TTN) and expanded its service to Europe. However Tharisanam TV Europe was not broadcasting the same programmes that were broadcast in Australia and New Zealand. In Europe for a short period of time during mid-2008 Tharisanam TV's name was changed to Thendral TV due change of management. Tamil (; ' , ) is a Dravidian language natively spoken by the Tamil people of South Asia. Tamil is an official language of the Indian state of Tamil Nadu, the sovereign nations of Sri Lanka and Singapore, and the Indian territory of Puducherry. Sri Lankan Tamil
Sri Lankan Tamils ( or ), also known as Ceylon Tamils or Eelam Tamils, are Tamils native to the South Asian island state of Sri Lanka. Today, they constitute a majority in the Northern Province, live in significant numbers in the Eastern Province and are in the minority throughout the rest of the country. 70% of Sri Lankan Tamils in Sri Lanka live in the Northern and Eastern provinces. Tamil Television Network (TTN) is a France-based Tamil language satellite television channel. Its main audience were Sri Lankan Tamils living in Europe, Australia and the Middle East. The channel mainly broadcast films, live broadcast of football, crickets matches and news. Launch In June 1997 Paris based ''Radio Asia'' (founded by Sabapathy Suppiah Kuhanathan, editor of ''Eelanadu'') launched Tamil Radio & Television (TRT), the first Tamil-language TV station outside India. The subscription channel broadcast 24 hours to viewers across Europe, South Africa, Mauritius and Réunion. Hot Bird
Hot Bird (also styled HOTBIRD) is a group of satellites operated by Eutelsat, located at 13 °E over the equator ( orbital position) and with a transmitting footprint over Asia, Europe, North Africa, Americas and the Middle East. Only digital radio and television channels are transmitted by the Hot Bird constellation, both free-to-air and encrypted. In addition there are a few interactive and IP services.
