Global Airlines Limited is a British startup airline aiming to begin operations from London Gatwick to New York and Los Angeles in 2025, using a fleet of four Airbus A380s. The company purchased its first aircraft in May 2023 and claims to be the first new Airbus A380 owner in eight years. The company had initially proposed to operate its aircraft with five classes of service including a "Gamer class" but later announced a more conventional three-class configuration with 450–470 seats. Global Airlines announced on 1 June 2023 that Richard Stephenson, former CEO of Aerotime and communications director of the UK Civil Aviation Authority for six years, has been appointed as CCO and had been advising James Asquith since the previous summer. Hi Fly Malta is a Malta, Maltese charter airline based at Malta International Airport and a subsidiary of the Portugal, Portuguese charter airline Hi Fly (airline), Hi Fly. The Airbus A380 is a large wide-body airliner that was developed and produced by Airbus. It is the world's largest passenger airliner and only full-length double-deck jet airliner. Airbus studies started in 1988, and the project was announced in 1990 to challenge the dominance of the Boeing 747 in the long-haul market. The then-designated A3XX project was presented in 1994; Airbus launched the € billion ($10.7 billion) A380 programme on 19 December 2000. The first prototype was unveiled in Toulouse on 18 January 2005, with its first flight on 27 April 2005. Hi Fly (legally ''Springjet, S.A.'') is a Portuguese charter airline headquartered in Lisbon. History The airline was incorporated in October 2005 and concluded its initial certification process in April 2006, when it was issued with an Air Operator Certificate by the Portugal civil aviation authority, ANAC. Since obtaining its Air Operator Certificate, the carrier has gained all the statutory EU-OPS (regulations specifying minimum safety and related procedures for commercial passenger and cargo fixed-wing aviation) and European Union Safety Agency (EASA) approvals.
