Vanessa Brown (born 24 October 1983), known professionally as VV Brown, is a British indie pop singer-songwriter, model and record producer. Career Early life and career Vanessa Brown was born in Northampton, England. She is the eldest of six siblings; her mother is Jamaican and her father is Puerto Rican. She attended Overstone Park School near Northampton, which her parents own and work in. She then went to Kingsthorpe Upper School, now Kingsthorpe Community College, and sat her A-levels a year early. She achieved four A-grades and received offers to study law at five universities including Oxford but declined them to pursue a music career. While at school and college she declined three offers of a record deal, including one from rapper P. Diddy's label Bad Boy Records, to focus on her studies. Trip hop (sometimes used synonymously with "downtempo") is a musical genre that originated in the early 1990s in the United Kingdom, especially Bristol. It has been described as a psychedelic music, psychedelic fusion of hip hop music, hip hop and electronica with slow tempos and an atmospheric sound, often incorporating elements of jazz, soul music, soul, funk, reggae, dub music, dub, Contemporary R&B, R&B, and other forms of electronic dance music, electronic music, as well as sample (music), sampling from movie soundtracks and other eclectic sources. Glitch Pop
Glitch is a genre of electronic music that emerged in the 1990s. It is distinguished by the deliberate use of glitch-based audio media and other sonic artifacts. The glitching sounds featured in glitch tracks usually come from audio recording device or digital electronics malfunctions, such as CD skipping, electric hum, digital or analog distortion, circuit bending, bit-rate reduction, hardware noise, software bugs, computer crashes, vinyl record hiss or scratches, and system errors. Sometimes devices that were already broken are used, and sometimes devices are broken expressly for this purpose. Alternative Dance
Alternative dance (also known as indie dance or underground dance in the U.S.) is a musical genre that mixes alternative rock with electronic dance music. Although largely confined to the British Isles, it has gained American and worldwide exposure through acts such as New Order in the 1980s and the Prodigy in the 1990s. ''Samson & Delilah'' is the second studio album by English recording artist V V Brown, released on 9 September 2013 on Brown's YOY Records. Brown initially had planned to follow up her critically acclaimed debut album with ''Lollipops and Politics,'' promoting the release of the album with a debut single. The album was later shelved, in part due to do Brown's own wishes. She then went independent for ''Samson & Delilah,'' which found Brown experimenting with a radically different change in musical direction. ''Samson & Delilah'' is a concept album based around the biblical story of the same name. A short film using material from the album was used to promote the record. Critical reception ''Samson & Delilah'' received positive reviews from music critics. On Metacritic, the album received a score of 82 from professional sources, indicating "universal acclaim."
