Glenn Schuurman
Glenn Schuurman (; born 16 April 1991) is a Dutch former field hockey player who played as a defender or midfielder. He played a total 159 matches from 2012 until 2021 for the Dutch national team and scored three goals. He participated at the 2016 Summer Olympics. Club career He was born in Boxtel in the Netherlands, where he started playing hockey for the local hockey club MEP. In 2009 he transferred to Bloemendaal where he won the Dutch national title in 2010. In the 2018–19 season, he won his second national title with Bloemendaal by defeating Kampong in the championship final. The lost championship final against Pinoké in the 2022–23 season was his last match in the Bloemendaal team as he retired. Field Hockey
Field hockey is a team sport structured in standard hockey format, in which each team plays with ten outfield players and a goalkeeper. Teams must drive a round hockey ball by hitting it with a hockey stick towards the rival team's shooting circle and then into the goal. The match is won by the team that scores the most goals. Matches are played on grass, watered turf, artificial turf, synthetic field, or indoor boarded surface. The stick is made of wood, carbon fibre, fibreglass, or a combination of carbon fibre and fibreglass in different quantities. The stick has two sides; one rounded and one flat; only the flat face of the stick is allowed to progress the ball. During play, goalkeepers are the only players allowed to touch the ball with any part of their body. A player's hand is considered part of the stick if holding the stick. The Germany men's national field hockey team is one of the most successful sides in the world, winning gold at the Summer Olympics four times (including once as West Germany), the Hockey World Cup twice, the EuroHockey Nations Championship eight times (including twice as West Germany) and the Hockey Champions Trophy nine times (including three times as West Germany). Koninklijke Nederlandse Hockey Bond
The Royal Dutch Hockey Association ( nl, Koninklijke Nederlandse Hockey Bond, KNHB) is the official governing body of Field hockey in the Netherlands. It governs both the indoor and outdoor field hockey leagues, as well as the Netherlands men's national field hockey team, Netherlands national field hockey team and the Netherlands women's national field hockey team. Originally, the association was also responsible for bandy in the Netherlands, but that sport is now governed by Bandy Bond Nederland. 2019 Men's EuroHockey Nations Championship
The 2019 Men's EuroHockey Championship was the 17th edition of the EuroHockey Nations Championship, the biennial international men's field hockey championship of Europe organised by the European Hockey Federation. It was held alongside the women's tournament from 16 to 24 August 2019 in Antwerp, Belgium. The tournament also served as a direct qualifier for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, with the winner Belgium qualifying. The England men's national field hockey team competes in most major international tournaments except the Olympic Games. England's only appearance at the Olympics was at London 1908 when they won gold; since then English players have competed at the Olympics as part of the combined Great Britain national field hockey team. England's best finish in the Hockey World Cup was as runners-up to champions Australia in 1986, which was also held in London. The 2022–23 Men's Hoofdklasse Hockey, also known as the Tulp Hoofdklasse Men for sponsorship reasons, was the 50th season of the Men's Hoofdklasse Hockey, the top Dutch field hockey league.
