Washington's 5th legislative district is one of forty-nine districts in Washington state for representation in the state legislature. The district borders Kittitas County on the east; the 31st legislative district on the south; parts of Maple Valley, Renton, and Issaquah on the west; and Snohomish County on the north. The largely rural district is represented by state senator Mark Mullet and state representatives Bill Ramos (position 1) and Lisa Callan (position 2), all Democrats. Chad Lee Magendanz (born May 24, 1967) is an American software developer and politician. A Republican, he served two terms in the Washington House of Representatives for the 5th district, comprising much of the eastern third of King County. Magendanz was the ranking member on thHouse Education Committeeand served on the HousAppropriationsanHouse Technology and Economic Developmentcommittees. He previously served as the Issaquah School Board president. Magendanz was endorsed by The Seattle Times in 2012, 2014, 2018, and 2022 and consistently received an Outstanding rating from the Municipal League of King County. He is currently running for Superintendent of Public Instruction. Personal life Magendanz enrolled in Cornell University in 1985 and graduated with a degree in electrical engineering. Fall City, Washington
Fall City is an unincorporated community and census-designated place (CDP) in King County, Washington, United States, east of Seattle. The community lies along the Snoqualmie River and Raging River. The population was 1,993 at the 2010 census. History The first settlements in the area were two forts built in 1856 during the Puget Sound War to protect future settlers against possible uprisings by the native population. Fort Patterson, a few miles downstream, and Fort Tilton, a few miles upstream, were built with the help of Indians led by Chief Patkanim, and both were abandoned within two years after interactions with the local tribes remained peaceful. A historical marker can be found north of Fall City on the Fish Hatchery Road where Fort Tilton once stood. A trading post was established near the present-day location of the Last Frontier Saloon in 1869 and became a hub of the local economy.
