Glenealy, Hong Kong
Glenealy is one of the few roads or streets without a suffix in Hong Kong. Located in the Mid-Levels on the Hong Kong Island, Hong Kong, it starts from Ice House Street and goes uphill to Hong Kong Zoological and Botanical Gardens, across Robinson Road and ends at Hornsey Road and Conduit Road. Name Glenealy was the short form of a valley called Glenealy Ravine (). The valley separates the Government Hill in the east and Pedder's Hill in the west. Alternatively, the valley was known as Elliot's Vale (), after Charles Elliot, at the beginning and a road from Robinson Road leading to the house named Glenealy on the site of present Roman Catholic Cathedral is known as Elliot Crescent. Vale in Elliot's Vale means river valley and a river runs from Victoria Peak down to Central. The Elliot Vale name seems, however, to have been as short-lived as Elliot's administration. Glenealy School
The English Schools Foundation (ESF) is an organisation that runs 22 international schools in Hong Kong. It is Hong Kong's largest English-medium organisation of international schools. It was founded in 1967 with the passage of the English Schools Foundation Ordinance, under which it is mandated to provide "without regard to race or religion, a modern liberal education through the medium of the English language". The foundation receives an ongoing subsidy from the Hong Kong Government, which is being phased out. It is also funded through tuition fees. In the 2021-22 academic year, these fees stood at HK$115,800 per annum for primary school students and HK$133,800 per annum for Years 7–11 secondary school students (HK$140,700 for Years 12 and 13). Glenealy, County Wicklow
Glenealy () is a village west of Wicklow Town, in County Wicklow, on the R752 road (Ireland), R752 road. The Dublin–Rosslare Europort, Rosslare railway line also passes through the village. Since the extension of the N11 road (Ireland), N11 dual-carriageway from Dublin to within of the village in 2004, it has been undergoing population growth, attracting people commuting to Dublin. In the 20 years between the 1996 and 2016 census, the village population grew from 383 to 694 people. The village has a school, pub and a small shop known to the locals as the 'yellow shop'.
