Glenda Tuaine
Glenda Tuaine is an event, arts producer and promoter based in Rarotonga. Tuaine is Company Director of Motone Productions, a creative production company based in Rarotonga, Aitutaki, Tahiti and Wellington, Aotearoa New Zealand. In 2019 Tuaine was awarded the Creative New Zealand Special Recognition Arts Pasifika Award. Tuaine is invested in the arts in the Cook Islands and produces tours for musicians, opera events, and has directed an award-winning short film about Cook Island artist Mike Tavioni. Biography Tuaine's father is from Aitutaki. In Aotearoa Tuaine was a theatre actor and director theatre, film and television, starting in the late 1980s. Rarotonga
Rarotonga is the largest and most populous of the Cook Islands. Brussels International Film Festival (2018–present)
The Brussels International Film Festival (BRIFF) is a film festival that has taken place in the Belgian city of Brussels in September each year since 2018. It has no relation to the previous Brussels International Film Festival (BRFF), which occurred between 1974 and 2016. History In its first edition in 2018, which took place in the Flagey building, BRIFF staged three competition categories: International, European and National. In 2019, the European competition was dropped and Directors' Week added. Escape (magazine)
''Escape'' magazine was a British comic strip magazine founded and edited by Paul Gravett and Peter Stanbury. Nineteen issues were published between 1983 and 1989. Eddie Campbell, Phil Elliott and Glenn Dakin were amongst the many cartoonists published within its pages. Escape Publishing also released a limited number of graphic novels in the period 1984–1989, some co-published with Titan Books. Origins ''Escape'' has its origins in the explosion of small press or minicomics that occurred in the UK in the early 1980s. Paul Gravett was running a stall at the Westminster Comic Mart in London called Fast Fiction where he would sell other people's self-published comics for a small cut. The Māoriland Film Festival is a festival of film and creative endeavours that supports and hosts Māori and international Indigenous filmmakers and creatives. It is held annually in the Kāpiti Coast community of Ōtaki, in the North Island of New Zealand. Strike (band)
Strike was a British electronic dance music band formed in 1994 consisting of Matt Cantor (later of Freestylers), Andy Gardner (later of Plump DJs) and the vocalist Victoria Newton. Career Strike formed towards the end of 1994. A chance vocal session for Victoria Newton at the studios of Fresh Records in Ladbroke Grove, landed her the role as the lead singer. Strike's first single, "Formula One", entered the lower reaches of the UK top 100 chart. Tiki Taane (born 17 December 1976) is a New Zealand-based musician, experimentalist, musical activist, producer, and live engineer. He was a member of leading New Zealand band Salmonella Dub but left after eleven years on 1 January 2007 to pursue a solo career. Karoline Fuarose Park-Tamati (born 7 November 1982), known professionally as Ladi6, is a New Zealand recording artist of Samoan descent. She spent six months living in Berlin and touring Europe in both 2010 and 2011. Avarua (meaning "Two Harbours" in Cook Islands Māori) is a town and district in the north of the island of Rarotonga, and is the national capital of the Cook Islands. The town is served by Rarotonga International Airport (IATA Airport Code: RAR) and Avatiu Harbour. The population of Avarua District is 4,906 (census of 2016).
