Glen Murphy
Glen Murphy (born 6 April 1957) is a British actor and producer, best known as Firefighter George Green between 1988 and 2002 on the television drama '' London's Burning''. Career Murphy was the only actor to remain throughout the entire run of ''London's Burning'', which attracted 18.92 million viewers for its 5th series, and averaging 15 million in its 14-year reign. He was the subject of '' This Is Your Life'' in 1992. After ''London's Burning'' he appeared in ''The Bill'', ''Tank Malling'', the Karl Howman directed drama ''Fathers of Girls'', and alongside Joely Richardson in ''Shoreditch''. His later work includes as a producer and lead actor in the film ''Lords of London'' (2014). It won best film at the New York Hell's Kitchen Film Festival, and he won the best Actor award at the Abruzzo film festival in Italy; it is released in the United States by Lionsgate on 1 September 2015. London's Burning (TV Series)
''London's Burning'' is a British television drama programme, produced by London Weekend Television for the ITV network. It was based on the 1986 TV movie of the same name, and focused on the lives of members of the London Fire Brigade, principally those of the Blue Watch, at the fictional Blackwall fire station. It began with the movie (pilot), broadcast on 7 December 1986. This was then followed by a total of 14 series, which ran from 20 February 1988 to 25 August 2002. Movie Jack Rosenthal's original two-hour TV movie, directed by Les Blair, was broadcast on ITV on 7 December 1986. The Broadwater Farm riot, in north London, was one inspiration for the screenplay. Wasted Youth (British Band)
Wasted Youth were an English post-punk band from London, England, active between 1979 and 1982, which blended post-punk/pre-Goth with dark acoustic strains of the sort associated with Nick Drake and Syd Barrett. The line-up of the band was Ken Scott (vocals and guitar), Rocco Barker (guitar), Nick Nicole (synth), Darren Murphy (bass) and Andy Scott (drums). Their records were released through Bridgehouse Records, a label set up by the bass player's father, former boxer Terry Murphy. Wasted Youth emerged from the Plaistow power pop trio The Tickets who were fronted by Ken Scott with brother Andy on Drums and John McGeady on bass. Rocco Barker went on to join the band Flesh for Lulu and was in the Channel 4 show, ''A Place in Spain: Costa Chaos''. The band's bassist, Darren Murphy, died of cancer on 15 February 2012. The Freedom of the City of London started around 1237 as the status of a 'free man' or 'citizen', protected by the charter of the City of London and not under the jurisdiction of a feudal lord. In the Middle Ages, this developed into a freedom or right to trade, becoming closely linked to the medieval guilds, the livery companies. In 1835 eligibility for the freedom of the City was extended to anyone who lived in, worked in or had a strong connection to the City. The freedom that citizens enjoy has long associations with privileges in the governance of the City. Stratford is a town in east London, England, within the ceremonial county of Greater London. Until 1965 it was within the historic county of Essex.
