Glemmtal
The Glemmtal ("Glemm Valley") in the Austrian state of Salzburg is the valley of the roughly 30 km long upper reaches of the River Saalach. It belongs to the northern Pinzgau region and separates the Kitzbühel Alps in an east-west direction. Its main settlement is the village of Saalbach in Zell am See district. Geography The ''Saalbach'' flows through the upper 10 km of the valley , whose largest headstream, the '' Schwarzenbach'', rises at about 1800 m above sea level between the Geißstein, the ''Tristkogel'' and the Spieleckkogel mountains. Skicircus Saalbach-Hinterglemm/Leogang
The Skicircus Saalbach Hinterglemm Leogang Fieberbrunn is a winter sports area in the Austrian federal state of Salzburg. It extends on both sides of the valley over the mountains of the Glemmtal and has a link to Leogang and to Fieberbrunn, in Tyrol. Because the area is laid out around the valley and the municipality of Saalbach-Hinterglemm the name "Skicircus" was chosen. A ski circus is a winter sports area that is laid out around a valley, normally enabling circuits of the whole complex. Pinzgau Ridgeway
The Pinzgau Ridgeway (german: Pinzgauer Spaziergang or ''Pinzgauer Höhenweg'') is a roughly 25 kilometre long ridgeway in the Kitzbühel Alps in the Austrian federal state of Salzburg. Location and route The ridgeway runs parallel to the Salzach valley at a height of around 2,000 metres along the crest that separates the high Alpine valley from the Glemmtal to the north. The entire route lies in the region known as the Pinzgau. The mountain trail begins on the high Schmittenhöhe, the local mountain for the town of Zell am See, which can be reached by cable car. From there it runs westwards over the ''Kettingtörl'' (1,780 m) to the ''Kettingkopf'' (1,865 m), south of which is the Pinzgau Hut (1,700 m), an important base for the Pinzgau Ridgeway. Saalach
The Saalach is a river in Austria and Germany, and a left tributary of the Salzach. Course The river begins, as the stream, in the Austrian state of Tyrol in the Kitzbühel Alps at the lake below the high Gamshag. From there it flows initially eastwards through the valley, through Hinterglemm, then the ski resort of Saalbach – at the latest from there it is known as the ''Saalach'' – until it bends north at Maishofen. Kitzbühel Alps
The Kitzbühel Alps (german: Kitzbüheler Alpen or ''Kitzbühler Alpen'') are a mountain range of the Central Eastern Alps surrounding the town of Kitzbühel in Tyrol, Austria. Geologically they are part of the western slate zone (greywacke zone). Zell Am See
Zell am See is the administrative capital of the Zell am See District in the Austrian state of Salzburg (state), Salzburg. Located in the Kitzbühel Alps, the town is an important tourist destination due to its Ski resort, ski resorts and shoreline on Lake Zell. Geißstein
The Geißstein, sometimes also called the Gaisstein, is a mountain in the Kitzbühel Alps with a height of that straddles the border between the federal Austrian states of Tyrol and Salzburg The Geißstein lies about seven kilometres southeast of Jochberg. To the east of it is the ''Vogelalmgraben'', a right-hand side valley of the Glemmtal. To the southeast is the ''Mühltal'', a left-hand valley of the Upper Pinzgau (''Oberpinzgau''). This is the site of the 1,699 m high Bürgl Hut, one of the most important bases for climbing the mountain. A signposted trail runs from the hut along the southern arête to the summit. Schattberg (Saalbach-Hinterglemm)
The Schattberg is a high mountain in the Kitzbühel Alps in the Austrian state of Salzburg. Location and surrounding area The Schattberg is the local mountain for the Pinzgau parish of Saalbach-Hinterglemm, that lies about 3 kilometres to the north. It forms the end of a mountain ridge that runs from the 2,249 m high ''Hochkogel'' over the 2,092 m high ''Saalbachkogel'' and the 2,123 m high ''Stemmerkogel'' to the north. Saalach Valley Ridgeway
The Saalach Valley Ridgeway (german: Saalachtaler Höhenweg) is a roughly five-hour long ridgeway trail in the Salzburg part of the Kitzbühel Alps between Leogang and Saalfelden. The way runs along the mountain chain that separates the valley of the Glemmtal in the south from the Leoganger Tal in the north. The marked trail runs from the ''Asitz Hut'' near the top station of the Asitzbahn (1,752 m) south of Leogang in a southwestern direction to the 1,914 m high ''Asitzkopf''. Zeller See (Salzburg)
Lake Zell (german: Zeller See; it, Lago di Zell) is a small freshwater lake in the Austrian Alps. It takes its name from the city of Zell am See, which is located on a small delta protruding into the lake. The lake is long and wide. It is up to 73 metres deep and at an elevation of 750 metres above sea level. The lake is fed by numerous small mountain streams in summer, but only one stream flows out of it into the Salzach. In winter the lake completely freezes and is used for winter sports. In summer the lake is used for pleasure boating (boats powered by combustion engines are not allowed except for the ferries that cross the width of the lake from Zell to Thumersbach, so electrically powered boats can be rented instead). The water is very clear and suitable for swimming or diving, but can be chilly.
