Glazov ( rus, Глазов, p=ˈɡlazəf; udm, Глаз, ''Glaz'') is a town in the Udmurt Republic, Russia, located along the Trans-Siberian Railway, on the Cheptsa River. Population: History It was first mentioned in the 17th century chronicles as a village; town status was granted to it in 1780. Auguste François Marie Glaziou
Auguste François Marie Glaziou (30 August 1828 – 30 March 1906) was a French landscape designer and botanist born in Lannion, Brittany. As a student in Paris, he earned a degree in civil engineering and took classes at the ''Muséum national d'histoire naturelle''. In 1858 at the request of Emperor Dom Pedro II, he relocated to Rio de Janeiro as director of parks and gardens. In Brazil, Glaziou was responsible for landscape design at several sites, including the gardens at Quinta da Boa Vista, the residence of Brazilian royalty for much of the 19th century. During his tenure in Brazil he also participated in widespread plant collecting. While in Brazil, he also engaged in the exploring the relatively unexplored territory, today known Brasilia, Brazil's capital. In 1897 he returned to France and settled in Bordeaux, where he worked on his personal herbarium. Anatoly Anatolevich Glaz (russian: Анатолий Анатольевич Глаз, be, Анатоль Анатолевіч Глаз, Anatol Anatolievich Hlaz, born 31 July 1982) is diplomatic and a spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Belarus. Biography Glaz was born into the family of Anatol Tikhanovich Glaz, a Communist Party official in regional Belarus. His father was member of the National Assembly of Belarus between 2008 and 2012. Glaz joined the Foreign Ministry of Belarus in 2005. Between 2007 and 2009 he worked at the embassy of Belarus in Italy. From 2009 till 2014 he worked as a foreign policy advisor at the administration of Alexander Lukashenko. From 2014 to 2018 he again worked at the embassy of Belarus in Rome. Herta Glaz
Herta Glaz (also spelled Hertha; September 16, 1910 in Vienna – January 28, 2006 in Hamden, Connecticut) was an Austrian-born American operatic mezzo-soprano, voice teacher, and opera director of Austrian birth. She became a United States citizen in 1943. From 1942 to 1956, she was a fixture at the Metropolitan Opera, where she sang in more than 300 performances. She was also highly active with the San Francisco Opera between 1944 and 1951. Some of the roles she portrayed on stage were Marcellina in ''Le Nozze di Figaro'', Annina, Siegrune in ''Die Walküre'', Flosshilde in ''Götterdämmerung'' and Magdalene in '' Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg''. Sarah Glaz (born 1947) is a mathematician and mathematical poet. Her research specialty is commutative algebra; she is a professor emeritus of mathematics at the University of Connecticut. Education and career Glaz was born in Bucharest, Romania, and earned a bachelor's degree in 1972 at Tel Aviv University, Israel. She came to the US for her graduate education in mathematics, completing a Ph.D. in 1977 at Rutgers University. Her dissertation, ''Finiteness and Differential Properties of Ideals'', was supervised by Wolmer Vasconcelos. After postdoctoral research at Case Western Reserve University, Glaz became an assistant professor at Wesleyan University in 1980.
