Glastonbury Festival 2022
The 2022 Glastonbury Festival of Contemporary Performing Arts took place between 22 and 26 June. The three headlining acts were Billie Eilish, Kendrick Lamar and Paul McCartney, with Diana Ross performing in the Legend's slot. This is the first in-person festival since 2019 with the previous two editions being cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic, known as enforced "fallow" years. Background Following the conclusion of the 2019 Glastonbury Festival on 30 June 2019, it was announced that plans were underway for the 2020 Festival, which would celebrate Glastonbury's 50th anniversary. Pilton, Somerset
Pilton is a village and civil parish in Somerset, England, situated on the A361 road in the Mendip district, 3 miles (5 km) south-west of Shepton Mallet and 6 miles (10 km) east of Glastonbury. The village has a population of 998. The parish includes the hamlets of West Compton, East Compton, Westholme, Beardly Batch and Cannards Grave. History Pilton is now almost from the sea but sits on the edge of the Somerset Levels, an area which has now been drained but was once a shallow tidal lake. Black Dyke Band
Black Dyke Band, formerly John Foster & Son Black Dyke Mills Band, is one of the oldest and best-known brass bands in the world. It originated as multiple community bands founded by John Foster at his family's textile mill in Queensbury, West Yorkshire in the mid-19th century. The ensemble has become prominent in competitive band championships and through recordings for film and television. DakhaBrakha
DakhaBrakha is a Ukrainian folk music quartet which combines the musical styles of several ethnic groups. It was a winner of the in 2009 and the Shevchenko National Prize in 2020. DakhaBrakha is a project of the Dakh Contemporary Arts Center, led by Vladyslav Troitskyi and born as a live theater music crew. Troitskyi continues to be the band's producer. Herbie Hancock
Herbert Jeffrey Hancock (born April 12, 1940) is an American jazz pianist, keyboardist, bandleader, and composer. Hancock started his career with trumpeter Donald Byrd's group. Elbow are an English rock band formed in Bury, Greater Manchester, in 1997. ''Les Amazones d'Afrique'' is a contemporary world music supergroup formed in Mali in 2015 featuring Kandia Kouyaté, Angélique Kidjo, Mamani Keita, Rokia Koné, Mariam Doumbia (of Amadou & Mariam), Nneka, Mariam Koné, Massan Coulibaly, Madina N'Diaye, Madiaré Dramé, Mouneissa Tandina and Pamela Badjogo. The name of the group refers to the Dahomey Amazons, which was a female elephant hunting group and a military regiment from the 17th century through the 19th century in what is now Benin.
