Glastonbury 2000
''Glastonbury 2000'' is a live album by English musician David Bowie. It was recorded during his Sunday night headline slot at the Glastonbury Festival on 25 June 2000. The album marks the first time the full video and audio of the performance are released, 18 years after it took place. It was shown in its entirety for the first time on BBC2 on 28 June 2020. Background The crowd at Glastonbury that year was estimated at a quarter of a million people. Bowie asked pianist Mike Garson to "warm up the audience" before the show started on his own, like he had done before Ziggy Stardust's retirement show nearly 30 years earlier. Mike Garson
Michael David Garson (born July 29, 1945) is an American pianist, who has worked with David Bowie, Nine Inch Nails, St. Vincent, Duran Duran, Free Flight and The Smashing Pumpkins. Early career Garson went to Lafayette High School in Brooklyn. After graduating from Brooklyn College with a music degree in 1970, Garson was a member of rock/country/jazz band Brethren with Rick Marotta, Tom Cosgrove and Stu Woods. They recorded two albums, ''Brethren'' (1970) and ''Moment of Truth'' (1971), on the Tiffany label, which featured guest piano and liner notes by Dr. John (and album photography by Murray Head, who scored a hit with "Say it Ain't So Joe", "Jesus Christ Superstar", and later with the single " One Night in Bangkok"). In 1968, Bowie was commissioned to write English lyrics for the Claude François French song "Comme d'habitude".
