Glacier Ice Rink
The Glacier Ice Rink is a two-sheet ice arena located in Missoula, Montana, on the Missoula County Fairgrounds. The rink and its programs are operated by the Missoula Area Youth Hockey Association (MAYHA), a non-profit organization. The rink is open 10 months a year and offers youth and adult hockey leagues, hockey tournaments, and public skating sessions. Glacier Ice Rink is also home to the Missoula Figure Skating Club, the Missoula Curling Club, the Missoula Referees Association, the Women's Hockey Association of Missoula (WHAM) and the University of Montana men's hockey team. The ice is removed each summer for the Western Montana Fair. The Missoula Maulers were a junior ice hockey#AAU, junior ice hockey team from Missoula, Montana. The team played in the Northern Pacific Hockey League, the American West Hockey League, and the Western States Hockey League. out of Missoula's Glacier Ice Rink. Michael Burks is the club's principal owner and president of operations. In 2016, Burks and the nonprofit Missoula Area Youth Association (MAYHA), the operator of Glacier Ice Rink, had a lease dispute and Burks decided to shut down the team rather than continue to fight the operators for a better contract. The Northern Pacific Hockey League (NPHL) was an American Tier III junior ice hockey league sanctioned by USA Hockey. Its championship trophy was the Cascade Cup. History Established in 2000 as the NorPac Junior Hockey League, the league was sanctioned as Junior B by USA Hockey. Six teams from Alaska, Oregon, Washington and the Yukon Territory competed in the inaugural season of 2000–01. In 2007, the NorPac was promoted to Tier III Junior A by USA Hockey. The Western States Hockey League (WSHL) was a junior ice hockey league established in 1993. It was sanctioned by the United Hockey Union, the junior hockey branch of the Amateur Athletic Union.
