Jo Giæver Tenfjord
Johanne Giæver Tenfjord (13 August 1918 – 12 June 2007) was a Norwegian librarian, educator, children's writer and translator. Personal life She was born in Kristiania (now Oslo), Norway. She was the daughter of Harald Birger Giæver (1873–1943) and Rut Berger (1893–1959). Her brother was publisher Knut T. Giæver. Tenfjord graduated artium at Oslo Cathedral School in 1938 and graduated from the State Library School (''Statens bibliotekskole'') in 1940. Career Tenfjord worked in the period 1940–47 as a librarian at the Deichmanske library, the main branch of the Oslo Public Library. From 1950 she was a teacher at the State Library School. She chaired the Broadcasting Council from 1974 to 1982. She made her literary debut in 1941 with the girl's book ''Valsesommer''. Anders Giæver
Anders Giæver (born 27 August 1961) is a Norwegian journalist and author who has been a commentator in ''Verdens Gang'' since 2000. Since 2004, he also leads the editorial section of the newspaper. In the period 2008–2011, he was the newspaper's correspondent in New York. Before joining VG, he was arts and culture editor in ''Dagsavisen'' and he has also worked in ''Dagbladet'' and ''Aftenposten''. His background is in music journalism. Giæver was central in the coverage of Anders Behring Breivik after the 2011 Norway attacks. He was critic of the first psychiatric evaluation which found that Breivik had paranoid schizophrenia. Ivar Giaever
Ivar Giaever ( no, Giæver, ; born April 5, 1929) is a Norwegian-American engineer and physicist who shared the Nobel Prize in Physics in 1973 with Leo Esaki and Brian Josephson "for their discoveries regarding tunnelling phenomena in solids". Giaever's share of the prize was specifically for his "experimental discoveries regarding tunnelling phenomena in superconductors". In 1975, he was elected as a member into the National Academy of Engineering for contributions in the discovery and elaboration of electron tunneling into superconductors. Giaever is a professor emeritus at the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and the president of the company Applied Biophysics. Joachim Gotsche Giæver (15 August 1856 – 29 May 1925) was a Norwegian born, American civil engineer who designed major structures in the United States. Biography Joachim Gotsche Giæver was born at the village of Jøvik at Lyngen in Troms, Norway. He was the youngest of eight children born to Jens Holmboe Giæver (1813–1884) and Hanna Birgithe Holmboe (1821–1903). His father was a leader in the local fishing industry. John Schjelderup Giæver
John Schjelderup Giæver (31 December 1901 – 9 November 1970) was a Norwegian author and polar researcher. Jónsbú Station in NE Greenland was named after him. Personal life He was born in Tromsø in Troms, Norway. He was the son of lawyer John Schjelderup Giæver (1864–1914) and his wife Thyra Høegh (1879–1954). He was the great-great-great-grandson of Jens Holmboe. John Schjelderup Giæver married Oddbjørg Jacobsen in March 1940 and they had a son in April the same year. However, the marriage was dissolved. Giaever Glacier () is a glacier flowing northwest between Mount Kerckhove de Denterghem and Mount Lahaye in the Belgica Mountains of Antarctica. It was discovered by the Belgian Antarctic Expedition, 1957–58, under Gaston de Gerlache, who named it for Norwegian explorer John Schjelderup Giæver, counselor for the expedition, and leader of the Norwegian–British–Swedish Antarctic Expedition, 1949–52. Morten Giæver (born 20 May 1982) is a Norwegian football midfielder who most recently played for Moss FK. Career He was born in Alta, but moved to Tromsø at the age of two. As a footballer he came through the youth system of Tromsø IL; made his first-team debut in a friendly match in 1999 and then in the Norwegian Premier League in August 2000. He got three Premier League games in 2000 and 2001. In addition, while at Tromsø he spent some time on loan in Finnsnes IL. After the 2001 season he joined IF Skarp. Torbjørn Giæver Eriksen (born 1970) is a former Norwegian politician for the Labour Party, currently appointed bNorsk olje og gassas head of public affairs since 2015.
