Gizem Bozkurt
Gizem Bozkurt (born 23 May 1993) is a Turkish female swimmer competing in freestyle and mostly in the medley as well as relay events. Currently, she is in the prep class of Özyeğin University in Istanbul. A member of Fenerbahçe Swimming in Istanbul, she is holder of many national records in various medlay and relay swimming disciplines. She competed at the 2010 Summer Youth Olympics held in Singapore. Participated in three events, her best result was the eighth place in 200m individual medley, for which she set also a new national record. She won a bronze medal in 4 × 100 m freestyle relay at the 2013 Mediterranean Games setting also a national record with her teammates in Mersin, Turkey. Bozkurt took three gold, one silver and one bronze medal at the 2013 Islamic Solidarity Games held in Palembang, Indonesia. Freestyle Swimming
Freestyle is a category of Swimming (sport), swimming competition, defined by the rules of the International Swimming Federation (FINA), in which competitors are subject to a few limited restrictions on their swimming stroke. Freestyle races are the most common of all swimming competitions, with distances beginning with 50 meters (50 yards) and reaching 1500 meters (1650 yards), also known as the mile. The term 'freestyle stroke' is sometimes used as a synonym for 'front crawl', as front crawl is the fastest surface swimming stroke. It is now the most common stroke used in freestyle competitions. 2013 Islamic Solidarity Games
The 3rd Islamic Solidarity Games was an international sporting event held in Palembang, Indonesia from 22 September to 1 October 2013. The 2009 event, originally scheduled to take place in Iran, and later re-scheduled for April 2010, was cancelled after a dispute arose between Iran and the Arab countries. Host selection Indonesia was announced as the host for the Games on April 2011 with Pekanbaru, Riau, as the host city. The Games were then relocated to Jakarta citing lack of standard in some venues combined with a corruption case involving Governor of Riau, Rusli Zainal. Palembang was finally selected as the host city and the Games were delayed about three months from the original time frame in June.
