"Give It 2 You" is the third and final single released from Da Brat's debut album, '' Funkdafied'', the first album from a female rapper to go platinum. Background Produced by Jermaine Dupri and Manuel Seal, Jr., who used a sample of the Mary Jane Girls' "All Night Long", "Give It 2 You" was the final single from Da Brat's platinum-certified album '' Funkdafied'' after " Funkdafied" (#6 US) and " Fa All Y'all" (#37 US). It was released in October 1994 and became her third consecutive top 40 hit, peaking at No. 26 on the ''Billboard'' Hot 100, and her second to earn a RIAA certification, reaching gold status on June 14, 1996 for sales of 500,000 copies. Shawntae Harris-Dupart (born April 14, 1974), better known by her stage name Da Brat, is an American rapper. Born and raised in Chicago, Illinois, she began her career in 1992, the year she signed with So So Def Records. Her debut album ''Funkdafied'' (1994) sold one million copies, making her the first female solo rap act to receive a platinum certification, and the second overall female rap act (solo or group) after Salt-N-Pepa. Keith Omar Murray (born May 29, 1974) is an American rapper from New York. Murray grew up on Carleton Ave, in Central Islip, which is located on the South Shore of Long Island in Suffolk County. Murray was a known member of a local rap collective in Long Island called Legion of Doom (L.O.D.) which included fellow rappers 50 Grand, Ron Jay, and Kel-Vicious. Murray is more famously known for being a member of the Hip Hop trio the Def Squad, which includes fellow rappers Redman and fellow Long Island native Erick Sermon, previously the co-founder of the legendary Hip-Hop group EPMD (from neighboring town Brentwood).
