Giuseppe Boccaccio
Giuseppe Boccaccio (1790/91, Colorno - 5 February 1852, Parma) was an Italian painter and scenographer. Biography His father, Girolamo Boccaccio, was a musician, associated with the opera. While still very young, Ferdinand, Duke of Parma, noticed his drawing talents and offered to help finance his studies. Ferdinand died in 1802 but, by then, he had established himself as a student, and he received support from his teacher, . In 1814, after three years of service in the Army, he married Maddalena Guatteri. They would have two sons, who devoted themselves to musical careers. He soon became a well-known landscape painter and, in 1817, was named an honorary Academic at the Accademia di Belle Arti di Parma. For economic reasons, he also did scenographic work for several private and public theaters. Giovanni Boccaccio (, , ; 16 June 1313 – 21 December 1375) was an Italian writer, poet, correspondent of Petrarch, and an important Renaissance humanist. Born in the town of Certaldo, he became so well known as a writer that he was sometimes simply known as "the Certaldese" and one of the most important figures in the European literary panorama of the fourteenth century. Some scholars (including Vittore Branca) define him as the greatest European prose writer of his time, a versatile writer who amalgamated different literary trends and genres, making them converge in original works, thanks to a creative activity exercised under the banner of experimentalism. The ''Enciclopedia Italiana di Scienze, Lettere e Arti'' (Italian for "Italian Encyclopedia of Science, Letters, and Arts"), best known as ''Treccani'' for its developer Giovanni Treccani or ''Enciclopedia Italiana'', is an Italian-language encyclopaedia. The ''Dizionario Biografico degli Italiani'' ( en, Biographical Dictionary of the Italians) is a biographical dictionary published by the Istituto dell'Enciclopedia Italiana, started in 1925 and completed in 2020. Museo Glauco Lombardi
The Museo Lombardi is a museum displaying an eclectic collection of 19th-century art and cultural works from Parma. It is located in the Palazzo di Riserva on Strada Garibaldi #5 in central Parma, Emilia-Romagna, Italy. History The museum was created by the efforts of Glauco Lombardi (1881–1971) to collect, study, and conserve the artistic and documentary heritage of 19th-century Parma under the Bourbons (1748–1802, 1847–1859) and Marie Louise, Duchess of Parma (1816–1847). Many of these items were largely scattered during the period of Italian Unification in various residences of the Savoy family. Lombardi often recovered the works from the antiquary market or in private collections. Giuseppe Alinovi ( Parma, February 25, 1811 – Parma, August 9, 1848) was an Italian painter, mainly painting vedute in a Neoclassical style, often in light watercolors. The Italian composer and court organist Giuseppe Alinovi (1790 - 1869) was his father. Biography He trained under Giuseppe Boccaccio (1792 – 1852) in Parma. His depiction of the ''Fortress of San Vitale in Fontanellato'' is presently in the Museo Rocca Sanvitale (Art Museum) in Fontanellato. His painting of the Palazzo Ducale di Parma (1833-1834) is found in the art collections of the Fondazione Cariparma. For an 1839 album of views of Parma, he painted ''La strada da Parma a Pontremoli'' and a ''Veduta d'Ischia''. Giacomo Giacopelli
Giacomo Giacopelli (27 January 1808 – 2 April 1893) was an Italian painter and scenic designer, active in Parma and Piacenza. He was born in Parma, and trained under Giuseppe Boccaccio, whom he succeeded as scenographer for the Teatro di Parma from 1839 to 1851. Giacopelli collaborated from 1840-1844 with Nicola Aquila, and with Magnani (1848). In 1857, he was named instructor of perspective at the Academy of Fine Arts of Parma. Together with Vincenzo Bertolotti and Giacomo Gelati they completed the decoration of the ''Teatro di Verdi'' located in Fiorenzuola d’Arda, which opened in 1853. Few works of Giacopelli remain, including his depiction of the ''Interior of the Duomo of Parma during the blessing of the flag of the National Guard'', and the ''Atrium of the Palazzo della Pilotta'' in Parma.
